On Sunday I spent the day in Pa with my friend and quilt history mentor Judy.
Always a fun day and very inspiring to me nothing like looking at antique quilts and talking quilts with her. I always learn something new and gain more of an appreciation for quiltmakers in the 1800's.
Her guild in Maine is looking for donations of little quilts to help raise funds.
I went thru my little quilt tops and decided to donate a few.
I hope they help. The bottom left one is from a Jo Morton pattern , adapted a bit :)
the top one and the tulips are inspired by Gwen Marston quilts . The tulips I saw on Diane's blog awhile ago and just had to make one too! When she told me she was inspired by Gwen Marston I knew why I loved it!
Just love Gwen's style.
I am waiting for my bolt of background fabric to arrive so I can start my Mary Mannakee quilt...
its hard waiting when your itching to start a new project
have the block pattern all drawn and cut out on freezer paper
fabrics chosen
maybe it will arrive today.
I ordered a book I saw on Jean's blog just for a picture of an antique medallion quilt I fell in love with..
Isn't this a great quilt and to think I can make this from my fabric collection , that is always a good thing!
My quilt will be inspired by this quilt, I am not crazy about the center what I love about it is the outside of the quilt all those orange peel blocks surrounding a center block...
will think about this for the next few weeks or months.
Here is the book and yes there are other antique quilts in this book
I bought it used on Amazon , well worth the purchase!

What a generous gesture and I'm sure they'll be appreciated. Oh I just love orange peel. I tried to make the pieced version by hand once where all the points meet in the middle, what a disaster that was, this looks so much easier.
That is so nice of you to donate some of your small quilts to the guild! I love your work and your next quilt project looks wonderful. I hope your fabric arrives today :D
I have seen that book before and now I know it may be worth looking into !!
Have a great day!
Surely your darling little quilts will be a great help in the fund raiser.
You must have the most wonderful library. I bet I could get lost in it for days.
I love the orange peel border, what a great effect. I look forward to seeing what you do with this idea.

Fantastic mini quilts you are donating! Maybe I need to check out our local library!!
I'm still waiting for my pattern to arrive from the DAR. I'm intrigued by the book you ordered. Will have to look into it.
beautiful little collection of minis!
That is nice of you to donate such pretty quilts. I hesitated on the "buy" button to get that book. It looks interesting. I hope you will share any other quilts in it that are that delectable when your copy arrives. Neither of my public libraries has it, darn it. Really like those little center knobbies for the peels.
You certainly are attracted to some great antique quilts. The Orange Peel part of the quilt would take a while to applique. Is the Orange Peel always an applique project or do some people piece them?
I know you have a little group going that plan on working on the Mary Mannake applique blocks. Should be interesting seeing how each person interprets the blocks with their fabric choices.
Kathie,
How generous of you to donate these sweet little quilts to our guild! We will surely sell more raffle tickets thanks to your generosity. I've got five little quilts in the works for the raffle too. They're so much fun to make.
Thanks SO much!
I love each and everyone of those little quilts! Gosh, they just make me swoon. I work almost exclusively with piecing when it comes to miniatures (or larger quilts, for that matter) but I sure do love the applique on these little guys.
Gorgeous little minis, Kathie and oh so generous of you.
DAR still hasn't called me back. maybe I'll fax the order in.
You've gotten some really nice books lately! I see why you want to do the orange peel quilt. I love that block, too.
I still haven't decided on the background for my MM quilt. Fabric Depot is having a big sale tomorrow and Sat, so maybe by Sat evening. Have you figured how much it will take? I haven't done that yet.
Love the little quilts. What an amazing pattern. Wishing you success in the making of your MM quilt! It really looks incredible.
That is so kind of you to donate those beautiful quilts...so wonderful! It is always fun to see what you have going on.
Love the little quilts....A very generous gesture and I'm sure they'll be appreciated.
I love the orange peel border, even one a little narrower would be nice on a quilt..

The little quilts are lovely and I am sure they will help the guild to raise more money. Who wouldn't want those little beauties! It will be fun to see what you do with the Orange Peel quilt!
How nice of you to donate all those small quilts. Do you EVER pick any easy quilts to make. Lordy that is a beautiful quilt your about to make. Your my hero.
Hey, thanks for the blog mention. Guess I'd better start posting quilts again! Fancy your having five little quilt tops lying around to donate to a fundraiser. You amaze me. I love the orange peel quilt. You could substitute almost anything for the center.
That is a lovely old quilt - the orange peel blocks are wonderful. What do you have in mind for the medalion centre?
You have a wonderful collection of mini's. How generous of you to donate them. Love the new pattern.
Wow, those are great little quilts you donated. Very generous of you.
That orange peel quilt is just fabulous. If you get around to making one I know it will be stupendous!
