A great new book if you love antique quilts like I do! I love that the book has quilt history as well as diary entries, very fun to read! AND yes of course it has great quilt patterns in it!
Home on the Plains:Quilts and the Sod House Experience by Kathleen L Moore and Stephanie Grace Whitson
just a sneak peak...one of my favorite quilts, don't you just LOVE this border????? and of course that green fabric I need to track down some of that color!
check this book out I am sure you will want to add this to your library.
I finished the binding on my little quilt from the Simply Charming book, I am thrilled with it, i am pleased with how my friend Lorre quilted it for me, the clamshells add so much texture to this little quilt.
I was inspired by Lori's quilt to start my own, I played around with the size of the blocks and decided I liked this size the best,
this will be made from my scrap basket and as I cut for other quilts. Long term project I think!
one more thing A new blogger that I am really enjoying reading Dawn , she loves reproduction fabrics and antique quilts like I do! I look forward to her posts! I hope you will enjoy visiting her too. Collector with a needle is the name of her blog.

Cute little quilt, and I LOVE that green. That color looks so "current". Thanks for the link to the new blog. :)
Oh, yay, I love new books on my favorite submject. Thanks for pointing this one out. Your new project will be a fun way to play with color combinations. Nothing to rush, but one day you will have a very interesting quilt.
Thanks for letting us know about the book. I'm going to try and find it. I love Lori's quilt. Looks like yours will be a stunner too. Hugs.
All of it wonderful! That book looks terrific.
Oh I have that book! I love it very much and the history as you said. These are my favorite kind of quilt books :)
Thanks for the review of the book. It sounds like a must have?
Your little quilt looks wonderful! It looks like it could have come from the pages of the book.
I love that limey green we see in older quilts.
Your current project will be a great way to show off some wonderful fabrics.
Thanks for the tip about this book! It looks wonderful.
Love your border around the quilt!
Carolyn :)
Home On TYhe Plains looks like a must have! Thanks for the reference to my blog! All great fun...
I just love the old quilts, great for inspiration and ideas for new ones. I need to get some sewing done today and finish up some projects, before i get the urge to start another, lol.

I think I 'need' that book and some of that fabric, too *s*
The new book looks great. I love the double 4 patch; you can lead the eye in different ways with fabric selection as you have shown.
I love your newest project. Think I need something like that I could use as a leaders/enders project. What size squares are you using? I am thinking 2" for the four patch that would give me a 4" finished square. Do you think that's too small? I would love to make placemats for my kitchen.
I should have introduced myself I'm a fairly new quilter, maybe 3 years. And have been lurking around the blogs and picking up great tips along the way. I do read you blog regularly. Your interest in antique quilts and your color choices are much like my own. Thanks for spending the time to do this. It is such a help to the quilting novices out here.
I'm a new follower and I'm loving your blog. what gorgeous antique quilts you feature. thanks.
That looks like a very interesting book. I often think about the women who lived in those "houses". They were tough - that was not easy living!
Your simply charming quilt is wonderful :0) I love the clamshell quilting.
Well of course I'll want that book! ;) I also want to mention the clamshell quilt pattern was perfect for the little quilt. Dig it!
So many lovely things to see! I have been considering by the Simply Charming book, and your quilt from it is just beautiful, I think a purchase is looking likely!!!
Looks like a great book, will have to find it.
A book that combines history and quilting is right up my alley. I doubt it will make its way to Japan soon. The little quilt is so charming and the blocks too. Lots of ideas playing around in my brain from visits with you!
I love your red and brown quilt, great stuff getting it all done, the clamshells are just the thing.
The new book looks like a great read, how life must have been back then and the green quilt is fantastic, I love that one a lot.
Cute new blocks too, great for a bit of piecing here and there.
Love the lime in that quilt! Very crisp against the white.
Hey Kathie
I'm with you about that green fabric. I wish the fabric manufacturer's & designers would produce fabric for us in just that beautiful colour. :)

Thanks for the book tip. I loved Lori's quilt, too. I was thinking I should make one since I've always admired that pattern and a day later realized I had - in 30's repros! I think I need to make another one!! Thanks, too, for the link to Dawn's blog.
Great little quilt.
I do like the clamshell quilting design.
Off to read the link from both posts.
i think i'll have to look around for that book; it looks very interesting.
