so what do you do when you come home from seeing a quilt show with so many red and white quilts????
order red and white fabric of course! It arrived yesterday
I ordered Christmas red and Country Red and then a bolt of a white 9900-60, Moda Belle Solids! the piece in the middle is Betty's Red, nice bright color, I think my favorite is on the left Country Red or maybe the Christmas Red!
now to decide which quilt to make I am inspired by so many of them, yes there will be a few made this year!

Here is what I started 2 weeks ago...delectable mtn blocks...oh not sure this will be the setting yet! Yes there were a few of them at the Red and White exhibit, one had a star in the center, I can't find a picture of it at the moment but I liked that idea!
When I showed this to my friend she showed me an antique one she owned and I thought wow! maybe mine will be just like that one!!! Isn't it great to have options?
EDIT found a picture of the delectable mtn quilt with the star in the center!!!! on Minick and Simpson blog and look theres that rick rack quilt, ah yes, on my list just LOVED that quilt!!!! and the quilting was to die for.
I will continue to make blocks and see where it leads me...yes these are prints not solids, there were a few quilts with printed fabric, very few Less than 5 out of the 650 if I had to guess.

I have wanted to do this 15 minutes of play with this group, I started and then stopped.
Last week I decided I need to do this a few days a week, I will use my scrap basket and I had to join the simply sixteenths club, this will allow me to add fabrics I didn't pick out and just the right size to cut up into fun shapes and pieces! I may have to add a few more of these bundles to my project!
think Gwen Marston and liberated quilting and of course adding to my little log cabin blocks!

I also ordered a Faith quilt kit from the Collection for a cause by Howard Marcus of Moda
Brown and pink quilts just speak to me and this fabric line I just love it, yes I had already ordered a fat quarter bundle of the line a few weeks ago....so can you tell I love this line???? I also appreciate that they chose a charity for each of these fabric lines in the Collection for a cause and donate money to that charity from the sales The charity for this line is The Coalition to Salute American's Heros. Read about it here, very interesting... The Moda Cutting table newsletter.
Its going to be fun making this quilt that was reproduced from his antique quilt collection.
The lunch box tin the kit came in is going to be turned into a travel sewing kit for me!

hope you find something to inspire you to sew this week!

Kathie,

I like the red on the left the best too. What ever red you use, I am sure the quilt is going to be stunning.
After working on many scrap projects, I am ready for a planned quilt. I have not made one in a white. Your reproduction quilt looks fun too!

Enjoy your 15 minutes projects!

I sure wish I could have gone to see that wonderful exhibit. I am going to have to make me a red and white quilt this year.

Love the Faith collections for a cause. I bought that fabric and it really is a beautiful collection.

Just picked up my Grace collection by 3 Sisters. Beautiful!

Can't wait to see what you do with your quilt you are working on. I am sure it will be gorgeous when done.

Like minded! I also ordered red and white fabrics (Kona cotton) last week to make a red & white quilt in honor of that exhibition after seeing yours and some others blog post. I haven't decided what pattern I'll go with yet, but sure it'll be a small size as usual and fun! Your stash from the club looks lovely, too. Have fun!!

I see some fabrics in that 16th pack that should work for your flower garden appliqué. It depends on the project and look whether to use the country red or Christmas red. Both are great. I have to check the white on my color card. I need a good go to vintage white. Used to use Kona Snow but the quality changed.

Wow
great start on your red and white revival! I ordered different reds from moda last year, and I think all of them are good too. I think I liked Christmas red.
Have fun with the 15 of play girls!

I didn't get to the red and white exhibit but have enjoyed the online pictures. I love that rick rack quilt. It's simplicity is wonderful and the quilting is breathtaking. Red and white quilts are a favorite of mine since they work for Christmas as well as the rest of the year.
I leave for Quilt Festival in Cincinnati tomorrow so won't be doing much sewing for a bit. I can't wait to see Kim McLean's Roseville Album in person. I have 1/3 of the blocks finished for her Flower Garden quilt.

When I want inspiration, I just visit your blog! So many things going on here that I want to make myself.

Love the red and white blocks. Were there many shades of red in the exhibition?

I just wanted to share with you how much I love your blog! It's always a good day when you post. Your quilts are beautiful, as are pictures of quilts you find elsewhere, and I really enjoy following the links you provide. I sometimes comment, sometimes not, but I want you to know how much I enjoy your posts.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you started whipping out red and white quilts;) I was doing the 15 minutes of play, then I got side tracked, lol.

Enjoy creating with red and white. Thanks for sharing your choices with us. I agree the collection for a cause had a really nice cheddar I bought a whole bunch. I had not seen this new quilt it. It is very pretty. I have a red and white plan of my own but I am finishing a project first before starting anything else. Thanks for being such an inspiration!

Kathie, I think there will be a lot of red & white quilts made in the next year or so! Your reds are beautiful, I love the 'Country Red' best! I have been playing around on EQ to come up with something that I really like. Of course all the photos that people have posted on their blogs have been a great inspiration! Have fun with your red & white creations, I will be following with great interest!!

Hello Kathie, I think whatever you make will be stunning. I like the red on the left. I am using the French General Le Petite Red, that is a very nice rich red.
