Hard to believe a little over a week and I only need 27 more blocks and this quilt top will done! I decided on a 13 x 13 setting, 169 blocks! gives me the size I want. I like that it starts and stops with nine patches (probably my favorite block!) So many of you have asked about this pattern, here is the info again...I started this quilt with the pattern from Betsy Chutchian's pattern in her book Gone to Texas.
my blocks all ready to just sew when I start sewing this am...a great way to just get started next time you can sew.
I love taking out some of my older books and looking thru them for inspiration. This is one of my favorite books its the state documentation books of quilts from New York. New York Beauties Quilts from the Empire State by Jacqueline M.Atkins and Phyllis A. Tepper. Just look at that Log Cabin quilt on the cover, isn't it amazing the designs you can make with a simple block like the log cabin, its all about the fabric choices....
I was thrilled to find this quilt in the book....
remember my blocks inspired by Lori, I think this may be the next quilt to make....
I also love the quilt Sue Garman made and Liz from quilterie blog made! OH make sure you take the time to look around Liz's blog, wow!

I looks wonderful. So close to the finish.
Shouldn't have read your post this morning - you're a double enabler - books and quilts!
I agree with Vicki---should not have read your post! Now, I am in big trouble! Love all of your wonderful inspiring projects. Thanks for all the lovely pictures and show and tell of the books and others blogs.

You are moving right along! How fun to be so close to getting the top completed.
Aahh...so much inspiration everywhere! I want to make one of each!! LOL
Oh, good grief, Kathie! I am seriously going to quit reading your blog! You're taking this inspiration business to a whole new level for me! :) :) I ran to my meager collection of "state" quilt books, and there was the New York Beauties! *sigh*
Amazing how much you've gotten accomplished on your quilt - ony 27 blocks to go! Didn't you just start it like yesterday?! You're definitely my hero du jour! Fabulous!
Wow that log cabin quilt setting is wonderful!! I love the next project you want to do. Any quilt that has that white/light color rows of blocks is sooooo appealing

I wish I could sit down long enough to piece something so beautiful. Maybe this will be the week, lots of rain coming our way.

You are absolutely amazing!!!! I love that quilt. I need the Texas and New York Beauties books - must have them and soon. :-)
I do love the pattern that the two blocks create; bet that will look very cute on a bed. And your new one, ye gods! It's cute, too!!
Oh brother, you got me started on this one!! Are you sticking to a particular palette or throwing in everything? I've just been cutting, no sewing yet!! Thanks a LOT!! LOL
Your quilt is going to be amazing.
You are so right about the log cabin...I have just gained a new respect for it.
You really are powering through these blocks, the quilt top is looking amazing!!! I have the book Gone to Texas! I do love log-cabin blocks, so versatile, that quilt on the cover is incredible!!!
Thanks for sharing so many lovely quilts. Simple blocks and amazing results. But, still, they take time. Do you sleep? lol
Inspiration all over your post today. You're making steady progress on the 9-patch and crossroads. Those two blocks together make a striking quilt.
Your blocks inspired by Lori will be a nice long-term project to work. I've seen both symmetrical and random/whimsical layouts with those basic blocks.
I've been wanting to make that quilt too!
Wonderful progress! I love 9 patches too, they are so versatile. Love all the color on your design wall with these!
