Crossroads to Texas, I feel like I have been waiting forever for this fabric line!!!! One of the best reproduction fabric lines to come out in a long time in mho. I love the madders and these greens are to die for, two of them are just so unique I need yards of them! The two pinks in this line are a must have in my collection, yes a few yards of those two as well...The cheater cloth of course I want a bolt, won't that be a great backing? I plan on making a little quilt from it and have another Idea I have wanted to play with too, for that you will have to stay tuned to see what I do with it!
As soon as I saw this antique quilts of Betsy's I new I would want to reproduce it I was so happy when she told me she was writing a book and the pattern would be in the book Gone to Texas. A must have book if you like reproducing antique quilts and /or just making old looking quilts!
I have been collecting madders ever since! Now having the madders that are in the original quilt will make this quilt even more special to me. This fabric line is mostly reproduced from this antique quilt she owns you can see pictures of it in her book. The cheater cloth was made using parts of that antique quilt. (or maybe its all from this antique quilt I will ask her again)
I love stripes like this for bindings cut on the bias , that way you get the diagonal look on the binding don't you?
So tell me what do you think of this fabric line????
What would you make with this fabric line????
A GIVEAWAY!!!!!
I will send a 6 1/2" charm pack to one of you who tell me what they like about the fabric line and how they would use it
Yes it is now available finally.
I preordered it of course here and you can also get it now at the shop where Betsy works. or hopefully your local quilt shop!
I know I need to order more of it now that I have seen it in person.
I was lucky enough for Betsy to send me a fat quarter bundle of this line, Thanks Betsy! I just couldn't cut into until I knew I could get more, I know, I know how silly is that? This week I will whip up a little quilt or two with these fabrics, can you tell how excited I am about this fabric line?????

OMG that is the most gorgeous group of fabric...yes the stripe on the bias is perfect binding. Did I say it was gorgeous? Love that book...I keep drooling over it!
This is fabulous. Love the poison green... Love them all. it is a perfect combination! Thanks for the tip Kathie
I was just browsing both the links you provided where the fabric is available and it was gorgeous. I can see why you're pretty excited :)
I'll definitely be making a small / doll quilt from it. Maybe even two with such large generous charm packs!
Thank you for the opportunity to win the lovely fabric.
I love that she's got all the colors in this line...and great lights. Those have to go into my Crossroads blocks.
I like the range of lights, mediums and darks. It could go into almost any design, but since I love scrappy quilts, I will say a simple square in a square block. I think some of this range will have to come to my stash.
Very pretty fabric. Love the deep reds. I have no idea what madders are. LOL
Oh wow! I love the colors in this line! I also love the bigger print (I'm into big prints these days). I've been dreaming of a hexagon quilt -- just imagine with this line. It would be wonderful! And the charms would work nicely too. lol! Thanks for the giveaway! I so want some of this fabric!
I love that folks are reproducing fabrics from actual quilts... love the colors and prints. I see one print that looks like it would work for sashing on the Barbara Brackman Civil War BOW I'm making... thanks for posting about this line... I can seem that I need to do a little fabric shopping!
I really like the pieces in the middle of the middle row that look orange-y. Those kind of "unusual" prints go a long way in CW repro quilts IMHO. I would add them to my checkerboard/postage stamp quilt.
I am drawn to the purple and greens, which I always need in my stash. The greens would be perfect for a Flutterby antique quilt that is in my 'to do' list. Thank you for the opportunity to have some of this line.
Oh those greens, and the warm chesnut brown, and there's a rich dark blue in there that's looking great. Thus is a great range. I have to say that's the best cheater I've ever seen! Ive been collecting repro prints for a NewYork beauty quilt I'd like to make one day
I like those small prints that can be used as solids. They could be used in almost anything.
The magazine arrived today. Well, delivery to Tokyo takes lots of time so I could anticipate longer. Maybe the fabric could be used to make that?
I've been looking longingly at this range ever since Sew Unique Creations posted it. The cheater would be the most wonderful backing. My son (24) is having spinal surgery later in the year and I'd like to make him a new quilt, I think this range would make a fabulous basis for a scrappy repro, the madders and greens are to die for, got to love the pinks and the large plaid .... oh and the lights ....and the......and. I would love the whole range!!!
Love those madders, the greens are great and those purples are something we don't see enough of. I would use these in some of my current projects, 4" stars with aged muslin background and 3 1/2" baskets also with aged muslin. I'm also cutting thimble shapes of each fabric I use for the stars and baskets. These fabrics will fit right in!
LOL, I can hear your excitement over this line. I look forward to seeing what you make with yours :0)
Crispy - Please don't enter me in the drawing as I don't do repro and it should go to someone who will truly appreciate them :o)
I see a doll quilt for my granddaughter's new room...perfect colors and love the designs.
(Educate me: the term 'madders'?
Great fabric! I love the colours and that they are reproductions. I would make a little quilt to hang with my little quilts collection.
Thanks for the chance!
From the picture the reds and greens are my favorite. Nice line of colors. Thanks for the chance to win.
Mary
Oh you are so right, that fabric line is great, I love the variety of colors. I am also curious about the blue fabric, third from the right in your last picture. I have an antique fabric piece that looks very similar. It's not a fabric I see too often.
Love this line! I have become such a poison green fan, I just can't get enough! I see a tumbling block quilt in my future with this line!
Ahh gee Kathie, I got this book last week and dived right in. It's totally up my alley. what would I do with this line? Kathie! These would go right into my Carpenters Wheel blocks. Immediately. I totally dig the array of options that are given. The book has some great options, too. I'm playing with a couple blocks now to see what wants to be made. Don't you find it's just SOOOOO INSPIRING.
I love the greens and purples especially. I would love to make a scrappy Irish Chain. Kathie L in Allentown
We share more than just a name! This line of fabric speaks to me too. Love the variety of prints and the bright and funky colors. I've also got that same quilt from Gone to Texas bookmarked in my someday file and these fabrics would be a great start.
And I'm with you on the bias-cut-stripes-for-binding idea too. I finish off at least 80% of my quilts that way.
I have seen that book before somewhere and already want it for my collection. I am dizzy with fabric envy over those beautiful fabrics! And I'm born and bred in Texas and love history so this is all just wonderful for me.
Gorgeous fabrics! Isn't that cheater cloth just the best? I like the fact that this line has a range of colors in it - variety is the spice of life! I would use these for a Blind Man's Fancy quilt.
It's the greens and the medium tones I love. I seem to drift toward darks or lights and never have good mediums. This line sure has a good variety. I'd make a little wall quilt with pinwheels.
I am excited too! Even though I put myself on fabric restriction, this is gotta have it stuff! I'll make a lap size throw just for me! Thanks for showing it to the world!
Love how the colors look on the cheater cloth, that would be great for charity pieces. I love charm packs, would be great to make a wall quilt or a couple of minis.
Debbie
This is such a beautiful fabric collection and in mho it would make a most beautiful Civil War Log Cabin quilt, that way all of the fabrics would be showcased. It's in my favorite color pallet too, how very exciting and thank you for bringing it out for us to see today. What fun anticipating being a winner, that Civil War quilt would be a most beautiful gift for my son and his new bride...
Have a happy day.
"Crossroads to Texas" - well I'm a Texan so 'nuf said LOL I love, love all the colors, especially the reds and the prints are fabulous.
I can see why you are so excited about this line of fabric...it needs to be added to my stash of repro. Thanks for the links, if Rita does not get it in, now I know where to order it! I would have to add it to my Farmers Wife Sampler, maybe....or just start a little quilt all on it's own!
Every piece looks fantastic!! What a nice repro line of fabric.
I absolutely love the book "Gone to Texas". It has special meaning for me, as the love of my life grew up in/near Plano. He went to Plano East High School. :) His mother is a quilter -- the family hails from West Texas [McAllen]
I'd use the fabrics to add to my Lancaster Diamond quilt -- http://idalively.blogspot.com/ I really need some madders! :)
Your enthusiasm for this fabric range is contagious. On my list of "must haves" when I do another O/S order. I can see a Lori Smith or Kathleen Tracy pattern. That dark blue is so vibrant.
The fabric line looks wonderful! I love that there is a variety of colors in the line. What would I do with it....hmmm...Probably just have to fondle and pet it for awhile before I decided it was ok to cut it up!
Fabulous! I will have to take a drive over to Lone Star soon and do a little retain therapy.
I'd make a little scrap quilt from the squares if I won them...maybe even miniatured blocks of the cheater cloth blocks. Ooooo that's a good idea!
Thanks for the chance to win!
How pretty!! I got that book while we were in California last year and love it. I usually don't much care for the cheater fabric at all, but for this line, I really like it a lot! It looks so real!! The charm pack will be nice to be just sewn up altogether to make a show case of this gorgeous line of the fabrics :)))
Kathie,
I LOVE this fabric. A friend just gave me the twister template and I am anxious to try that, so that is what I would use the fabric for. Today is my 30th wedding anniversary and this would be the best (ok probably only) gift I would receive!!
that's a wonderful line of fabrics. I think I would use the pinks and lights to make an Orange Peel quilt. I would need to buy yardage of it to do so. But it would only be a doll size quilt! Thanks for the give away. Bonnie / Va.
I love the authenticity of these fabrics. I used to demonstrate English paper piecing at a living history site. I would wear period clothing and use vintage sewing tools. I have a quilt top in progress that I worked on there (pieced with reproduction fabrics on reproductions of antique newspapers). It is not a hexagon, as so many are, but is a diamond (or lozenge, as it was sometimes called). I would like to use the charm pieces to add to that quilt.
I have been making small quilts for craft fairs using bright colors and designs. I just made my 1st little quilt using repo fabrics and now I don't know "what took so long"! I would really love to have the bundle as I don't have a stash of repo fabrics to start another small quilt just for me! Kathy O. in IL.resseing
Kathie, I am as excited as you about Betsy's new line. I will be picking my bundle up real soon.
I love reproduction fabric and enjoy making small quilts with them. This might be a silly question, but what is a madder?
Beautiful, rich colors! No need to enter me in the drawing.
I'm working on the Gone to Texas quilt right now and would LOVE to win the charm pack!!!!! I am taking Jo Morton's class from Betsy and have been out of town, so haven't seen her fabric in person. Wow! I would probably use it in making one of the quilts in the Gone to Texas book. I love the journal in the book - it is so touching. I think the next quilt that I might make from it is the Nine Patch & Crossroads quilt from the book.
I'm loving the quilt on pg. 35....I would want to duplicate some of those blocks in a mini, or several minis! It's beautiful!
I love the fabric - the colors, the prints, all of it! I'd make a reproduction quilt to keep me warm in the winter. It's a beautiful line.
WOW! THE FABRIC IS REALLY GORGEOUS! I LIKE THE HOMEY-LOOK OF EACH PIECE!
I'D HAVE TO A NEW BEDROOM QUILT FOR US! THANKS FOR SHARING!
jldouglas@wispwest.net
The collection is awesome. I would make thimbles out of the charm packs and if any was left I would add to my postage stamp Civil War quilt. Great collection. Thanks so much for sharing.
OH, I didn't realize that the line was out yet. It is very exciting - I have plans for the indigo with the funky oval - a zigzag set. Madders are just wonderful, and there is an antique quilt from ebay that I would like to reproduce, as well as the one in Betsy's book!
Oh, this is gorgeous fabric. I have both Kathleen Tracey's and Tara Darr's new books, so I would be making something from either one. I especially like the greens and the mauves. Can't wait to see what little quilts you whip up with this fabulous fabric line.
I made this quilt last summer before I knew the fabric was going to be coming. I love mine. I would use this line in my other repro quilting. I am excited to see all of the fabrics in person since you are teasing with your photos. Gotta see the cheater piece.....
It certainly does look like a wonderful line of fabric! Perfect to go with her lovely book. I love the cheater cloth - I must get some of that!! I would also like to make the Gone to Texas quilt - I should try and finish my Crowfoot quilt from the book first :0)
I love the BLOCK in that quilt! Is it blind man's fancy? The fabrics are amazing. I love coming to your blog and discovering the vivid colours of reproduction prints. The purples are calling me! Very generous of you to do a giveaway. I would make some of my Farmer's Wife blocks with this fabric. Thanks for the chance:) And for sharing your links!
oh wow, how gorgeous those are, esp. the reds ( well, reds always look great to me LOL).
I just bought the book 'remembering Adelia' and I would love to try the Orange Peel Quilt ( I think LOL, most are so cute!)
Thank you for a chance to win a charm pack.
Oh is it wonderful! Which ones do you think are my favorites! .... we just chatted about it the other day - Purples! What would I do with them - put them in my Dear Jane of course!
Oh, I would have to say I am really loving those madders. And, I need more madders in my collection of fabrics. I would probably make some little quilts with this line. Maybe pick something from "Great Little Quilts". Thanks for sharing.
I like the depth and richness of the colors. Not sure what I would make, something with scrappy stars.
I love the shirtings - love the small prints. The reds are also a favorite! The charm pack would be wonderful to use in a little quilt.
What's a madder?
I'm off to check off that book.....
I also love this fabric line and have been waiting patiently for it. It was the poison green on the top of the greens in your first picture that sold me on the line...maybe I should add a couple yards of that to my pre order. It is just going in with the reproduction collection. I like to applique album quilts and those fabrics will show up in some of the blocks.
Thanks for having the give away.
Cheri
I saw your post late last night and spent an extra few minutes looking at the fabric via your links. Your enthusiasm is contagious! The book is now on my shopping list too!
I love the greens and the floral red. I can see some great little quilts coming up! :)
Madder is a root from which they used to dye cloth red, since a couple people have asked.
I don't know what I'd do with them, but I'm quite sure I'd figure something out. Those colors are really wonderful.
Love the greens, purples, and pinks! I would add these to the scrappy Mariner's Compass blocks that I'm hand piecing.
Blessings,
Pam

Just gorgeous, Kathie - the book? - must go back and check out the Post properly!
Hugs - Lurline♥
You are evil!! I didn't know about this fabric line until I read your blog...now I want it!! :) You are right, the cheater cloth is wonderful! What a delightful doll quilt it could make! And, I think with the charms squares, I would make a miniature scrap quilt...probably from one of Kathleen Tracy's books. Thanks for the happy dreams!
Deb from clutteredquilter.blogspot.com
this are very pretty fabrics, from it I would make an aunt clara, that makes much fun.
have a good time
mg elfriede
I have had the book since it first came out. The quilt represented in the cheater cloth caught my eye immediately. The diary that went along with the quilts was most fascinating as when I travel to IQF we always stop in McKinney and it was on one of those trips that I found the book. Now a whole range of fabric! What's a girl to do? How do these things come together in the universe like this?
Thanks for sharing. lhs4664atqdotcom
Such a pretty line of fabric. I do like those pinks and greens.
I went to the link to look closer at the different fabrics. Very nice.
I am not sure at this time what I would make with the fabrics but they are lovely.
Love these fabrics! I especially like the greens. I've also have had a hankering for purples lately, and those look gorgeous. I have the new Simply Charming book, and wouldn't these fabrics be fun to use in those little projects? I've also been wanting to do a tumbler quilt. Thanks for a chance to win.
Oh my, that fabric is BE-YOU-TEE-FUL! I would make a quilt or two from one of Kathy Tracy's books if I should win. If not, I'll have to order a bunch from Tara, as she apparently isn't going to be a vendor at the Quilter's Hall of Fame Celebration this year : (
I would make a scrappy table runner for my kitchen! I am into "small" projects right now until I complete some classes I am currently taking. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
The colors are delicious & I have been making doll quilts & miniature quilts lately. Would love to include these fabrics!!
I just love that fabric! I'd love to be entered in a chance to win the charm pack. I'd like to do something beautiful and scrappy..just like what's on your design wall. :)
That fabric line is so beautiful & timeless! I love the mellow antique colors.
If I won the charm squares, I would mix them with similar fabric from my stash & make a sofa-size quilt, so I could see the fabrics every day!
Thank you also for introducing that quilt book - it looks like one I need!
I think if I could get a quilt done it would be Smithsonians Copp family quilt. I think it would be a different idea to make it in fabric that was dated later. The fabric you are sharing with us is much brighter but I think the quilt is such a classic any fabric would work with it. Plus if the two brighter greens (and maybe the pink) were placed throughout the quilt it would keep ones eye moving around the quilt. I dream about quilts all the time. You know that!!
The greens just blow me away! And the cheater cloth is unbelieveable. I would like to use some of it in the Nine Patch and Crossroads quilt that is in Betsy's Gone to Texas book. Seeing yours was inspirational! Who could resist?

Kathie,
I have been collecting these colors as well. I'm collecting them to make a "Muncy Compass Quilt". Just do a google search for this quilt and then page down on the Muncy Historical Society website until you come to the pictures of the original quilt and the reproduction of it. Just love it! Madders, poison greens...
oh.... and my name is Betsy... so I'd love to win these fabrics!!!
The wonderful greens are mentioned in so many comments, and I'm no different. I'd love to use them in a scrappy star quilt, or maybe an autograph block quilt -- definitely something that would use every inch of these luscious fabrics.
Thanks so much for the giveaway. This one gives me goosebumps, thinking of the possibilities.
Kathie, I've been eyeing this line for a few months, too. I love it for the same reason you love it, the range of colors. I would love to be able to use it in a doll quilt or two. :) Thanks.
fabulous! I THINK I would like to make the sampler in The Farmer's Wife with this. So great. I was at a quilt show and bought 6 fat quarters each of poison and cheddar. Would they look GREAT with this line?
It is a gorgeous grouping! I covet the greens and madders the most :) I can see a whole bunch of wonderful churn dash or star blocks made from these yummy repros. Mini 9 patches would also be charming!
I think it's a lovely 'scrappy' fabric line, with a lot of contrast, I like it!
From the charms I would make a small dollquilt. I've just drawed the lovely pattern for it... and the cheater is perfect as backing.

I fell for this fabric line as soon as I saw it!!! There are some sumptious colours and prints! I would make a mini size quilt with the charms!!! I'll throw my hat into the ring as well!!!
I would make a small quilt for my wall...I may have to get my hands on the book too..thanks for sharing! I Love it!
I love the line - and would use it to fill in my Farmer's Wife BOM I'm almost working on [LOL!]
doni @ Oregon coast
I love Betsy's book - I have it, but have yet to make anything out of it. Not enough hours in the day. The fabric line is absolutely wonderful! I especially like the cheater cloth - I would cut it apart and make miniature blocks for a doll quilt. I am "into" making doll quilts right now with reproduction fabric so this line would be perfect!!! HUGS... and stitches
That fabric is to die for. I love it. I just purchased an antique quilt that I want to duplicate and that line would be perfect.
The more I look at this fabric the more I love it. I would still make a thimble quilt and then if enough cut out postage stamps with the scraps. Love it.
I have such a tiny stash that this would add lot of colours that I'm missing. I like collecting small pieces of fabric.
I like that the colors are much brighter than the other reproductions I have!
I like the nice span of colors in the collection. Everything seems to have good representation. I would be adding it to the centers of a GFG quilt.
Oh, lovely! I would make doll quilts! Lots of doll quilts! What fun! Thanks for having this giveaway.
I love this fabric line. It is sooo yummy. I would love to make a couple of miniature quilts with it. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway. Hugs
Wow what a fabulous collection! I like the idea of a sampler but I also think I'd make a Scrappy pattern from Kim Brackett's book Scrap Bag Surprise. Thanks for the generous giveaway :-)
These are gorgeous fabrics. I like them all but LOVE the purples! If I win, I will make 6-1/2" blocks for my current CW project.
I am just getting into reproductions and Civil War fabrics. Love reading your blog with your lovely doll quilts and large quilts as well.
This is fabulous. Love the poison green... Love them all! but I'd love to make a scrappy star quilt using them with my other CW fabrics. Thanks for the giveaway, and your great blog!
Crossroads to Texas ~ gorgeous colours! I would include them in my Civil War BOW as I am running out of madders. Thanks for the chance to win them :0)
No wonder you waited for so long, that line of fabric is fabulous. Oh! I wish I could win and make a beautiful wall hanging for my living room. The colors are just perfect.
I would use the fabric to make a reproduction doll quilt (or 2 or 3)! I love the reproduction look!
I wouls use these fabrics for something appliqued. A My Heart to Your Hands pattern would be good to use. One of the smaller pieces. The greens and pinks are just perfect and the blues, too. They would also be good to use in a Kim Diehl quilt pattern. Such a great set of fabrics!
I love the poison greens, but the whole line is beautiful. I think I would make a scrappy basket quilt - just screaming for it don't you think - or Tisket or Tasket basket qauilt.
Very nice fabric line- It would make a nice table center piece- I love the brownie pink colors. The stripe as binding would be fabulous with those colors.
Thanks for the chance to win some fun squares.
Regards,
Anna
What a gorgeous line (and giveaway!) I'm doing a lot of EPP diamonds at the moment and I think a diamond quilt of these fabrics would be just beautiful.
