love the pumpkin seed quilting in the blocks...

choosing the clamshells for this little quilt was perfect....oh this is such a great way to use up your little pieces a true scrap quilt, some of my favorite fabrics in this little quilt....

the Japanese taupe fabrics in the center of this quilt are just so beautiful, in mho. the pumpkin seed quilting pattern in the center just perfect. From across the room the quilting on this quilt is just perfect. I am still trying to decide on binding fabric, I am leaning towards black or a very dark brown, any opinions?
I am happy to have all these little quilts quilted and ready to use, since I have made so many this year its hard to hand quilt them all in a timely fashion. I wanted you to see what amazing work the longarmers can do now , yes keeping it traditional in my style. Rather then having lots of quilt tops find a long armer you admire and trust, go ahead and have one or two quilted you will be glad you did. REMEMBER this is coming from someone who just LOVES hand quilting but I do feel machine quilting has its place in some of my quilts.

So you did get a bunch of little quilts quilted... How do I choose a favorite? I say a dark Brown binding to frame the postage stamp quilt. Thanks for sharing.

I just love them all and I was thinking on your last post that they've been very sympathetically quilted to match the look so well. Love the clamshells a lot and the middle quilt is my favourite.
I think I'm leaning towards a grey binding fabric fo the red quilt.
I like to hand quilt selectively since I can't do all the quilts I want otherwise. Machine quilting just suits some of the quilts I make. I certainly admire both skills. I'm a lover of the perle quilting too, it's a fast finish for kids or lap quilts without the time investment and the quilts remain soft and cuddly.

All are gorgeous! But my favorite is the last one. Love that red! And the middle too!

I love them all, but especially the middle one. I think I need to make one like that! The quilting on all of them is superb. I usually machine quilt my own quilts now, but enjoy hand quilting some little quilts as well, however, I haven't done so lately. Maybe I need to hand quilt my next little quilt. I have one basted for my dear little GD, so I think I will hand quilt that one. I would go with a brown binding on the last quilt.

You must be pleased to get such a fine collection of little quilts finished. I love them all and can't wait to see how you bind the taupe and red one. Your long arm quilter is very good. I must go choose some tops to send for machine quilting. A finish would be satisfying right now.

wonderful quilts thanks for sharing, I would probably go with a black binding-but would audition and decide from that. I like the idea in a comment above for a grey binding-definitely would try that out too. I started out as a hand quilter and now am a long armer. They both have there place in the quilt world, so too the computerized long arming which is (in MHO) another separate category. A whole separate skill set for each technique! Our craft/art grows stronger as we embrace new ideas while holding onto our past traditions.

Your little quilts are indeed beautiful. I think you stated it well-------you have to find a longarmer that understands your style. Hugs

The second quilt is my favorite (though it was hard to choose) and I love the clamshell quilting. I think a bed-size quilt from that design would be wonderful.
The red in the last quilt really sets off the Japanese taupes and I think I would bind it with brown.

Really wonderful pieces and quilting to go with them.
I like that pattern myself and found some online that I can use when I do my pinwheels, now I just need to put the binding on and pin it, a long arm sure would be nice;)

Love them all, but my fav is the second one. You can do so much with HSTs/lights-darks, can't you?

Darling little quilts! As a longarm quilter, I have to say, "yes! We do traditional!" But your quilter needs to hear what your ideas are. If she is all into the latest and most contemporary, and you just drop it off and say "do whatever you think is best", you are not going to be on the same page. So tell us what you want, gals. Bring a sketch, bring a photo of something you liked, whatever. Ask her, "are you comfortable doing this traditional idea?" It's more than likely that your quilter wants you happy with her work.

Great quilts - love that second one ;-)

How about a gray/blue binding on number three?

Oh, oh oh... Kathie, my heart is skipping a beat! These are so so so cute! I agree with you: I love handquilting, love the look the feel and doing it. But will never be able to handquilt all the quilts I want to make. However, good machinequilting is an important skill to have and sometimes suits some quilts better! So nice to be back visiting with you, I continue swooning now... :)

Love 'em! I'm happy that you don't feel guilty about them not being hand quilted - the quilting on them is so wonderful.

All of your quilts are wonderful but I'm especially fond of the scrappy HSTs quilt. What an eye catcher.

I agree there is definitely a place for small quilts to be long-arm quilted. I think a dark brown binding for the last quilt pic!
Thankyou for sharing and providing some great inspiration!!!!

Kathie, I never thought to use the taupes for a doll quilt! I have tons of scraps from my 2 boms and never thought of adding a non japanese taupe fabric with them but it's FABULOUS! Love the seed quilting in the center!

The quilting is great! I must try letting someone quilt some for me once!

All are fabulous little quilts, the top one is my favorite...you are right about the pumpkin seed stitching!

Lovely work Kathie. We are so lucky to have so many choices in the way we want to finish our work. The hectic pace of modern life takes us away from the things we like to do, so if we can save time and not compromise the quality of the finish, it's a win win situation. I know two wonderful long arm quilters. Unfortunately, with my output, they won't make their money from me.
