My growing wall of little quilts...I am constantly adding to it, rotating a few of them as its great to have so many you can do that, and thinking of new ones to make!
Here is the book that inspired me to have my own little wall of quilts...

JUST look at this! isn't it grand?, I have blogged about this before but now I finally have carried out my plan to have my own wall. Next is an art gallery look in a hallway I need to make about 30 more little quilts, no problem right!!!

I need to get the ladder out and add a few more over the table hard to reach. I also realized I need to add a few of the applique ones up there. I love that I have a selection of them now I can rotate them when I want to .
I use the flower head pins to hang them I just push the pins right into the wall 2 per quilt usually and they stay up there.
So have I inspired you along with Mary Ellisor Emmerling the author of the book to make your own wall of little quilts? Do you have a favorite of the ones I have on the wall now? I would love to know!

What a great idea!!! Very inspiring... I do have several favourites : top and middle left row and top right row. But I must admit that it is the collection and variety that give so much charm to the wall and the room

I started a wall earlier this year, I only have about six or seven up. I have another mini to add later this week. They are on one wall of my sewing room, and inspire me everyday. It is also a great way to try blocks without committing to a large quilt. I just love color, they are wonderful, definitely need to do more.

Love it Kathie, well my favourite hmmmm couldn't choose I love them all.
I only have three so far for my large wall in the kitchen/diner so I better get stitching

I love your wall of little quilts! I have just one hanging but have several others made. I need to figure out the best way for me to hang them. I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite of yours - they're all so lovely.

Looks fabulous! Wish I had that many little quilts to start a wall.

You know, my kids got together recently and had a discussion about who mom loved best. They were shocked to find out that they all thought they were the one. I hope my quilts don't try that. Each is special in its own way just like yours.
Love that wall!!!

It is wonderful! My favorites are the hourglass one on the left and the top right one with the little squares. My sewing room is shameful! I only have 1 tiny quilt hanging (I received it as a giveaway). I have decided to hang one small quilt in here though. I just don't have much room on my walls anyway between furniture, a large window, "design wall", etc. I started counting the amount of quilts on display in other rooms and it is surprising! For example, I have 5 in my entry hall!

How fun!!! I have several favorites!! The hour glass, red, white and green hst, and the red & brown nine patch on point!! I'll soon post my finishes on my Christmas small quilts (I'm almost done) and you will see some similarities!!

Blessings

How could I possibly pick a favorite!?! You have quite a collection and I would need to make many more little quilts to do this. BTW, nice cutting table.

I am totally jealous of your wall of quilts! It looks fantastic!!!

The presentation of all your little quilts hanging together is fantastic! Are you just using regular sewing pins with the flower heads to hold them to the wall? I would have never considered them to be strong enough.

I love your wall of quilts and it's great to see your inspiration photo. I would have a different favourite every day! Today I pick the cheddar and pink hst one. And the one with the big red border. And the nine patches set on point. Oh they're all so wonderful!

Wow, Kathie, the wall of little quilts looks fabulous! You continue to inspire.

A favorite? Yes! All of them. LOL

Simply fabulous! I too was inspired to create a wall of quilts by that very photo; sad to say, not one of my small creations is quilted. Yet. Of yours on the wall, I'd have to say my favorite is the top green-bordered Trip Around the World type though they are all wonderful. Well done!

That really looks terrific kathie! I tried it but maybe I didn't have enough little quilts to look good.

Your wall looks great! There's something quite special about a little quilt, and you've done a nice job displaying them.

I really love your display. I bookmarked your first post about this way back. I've been making quilts for my own art wall and need to get cracking and actually get them hung.

Just love your wall, mine is slowly growing. A long time ago, I think you posted it before it had grown so. I am so happy to see it again. It inspires me.

All your mini quilts look fabulous!! Favorite! Couldn't pick just one - they all work together to create a stunning display.
Your previous post and picture from the book inspired me to start a mini quilt wall (now a room). Never thought to hang them with pins - I will have to try that. Thanks!

Your wall looks wonderful!! So much color and pattern is sure to inspire you every time you go in there.

Your wall is fabulous! Wow! I could sit and look at that wall all day! I'm not sure I could get anything done if it was in my sewing room! I love that black and white one, 2nd row top.....maybe cuz it's a different pallet from the rest.....but then as I was looking at them all....the little spinner quilt (3rd row top) kept grabbing my eye! I love it!.....really......they are ALL wonderful.....and work SO WELL together! I'm definitely doing a wall....now to get making some little quilts.....cuz I have 2! lol

I am a huge fan of the little quilt wall. I don't really have a space to start one such as the inspiration photo, but I have been working on my own version. I don't know how you could pick a favorite - they are all delish.

Is this your sewing room? WOW!!! You have a wonderful space!!! I can't pick just one for a favorite but I'm drawn to the red and gold quilt over the pink and white checkerboard above the left side of the cutting table (middle of the wall?).

I'd love to come over to your place and spend some stitching time in your sewing room, it looks so inspiring with the wall of quilts. You achieved your goal, that's for sure, it looks amazing.
I have two favourites, the blue and the poink and brown one on the bottom left. I love that you didn't get all fussed about hanging them either, pins sound good!

Merilyn said...

Wow! they look sensational and very inspiring to have them in your sewing space!!! I love the little mini red/green HST's with the wide red border, and the pink 9-patch!!!!

Wow Kathie. I love each and every quilt. This idea is very inspiring. I think I might try this, as I enjoy making small quilts.

What a wonderful display. I'm drawn to the nine patches sashed in green. They look like they came from PA, my state. Kathie L in Allentown

Your wall looks fabulous. How could I possibly choose a favourite?!?!

Nyla said...

Love, love, love it. I love them all and particularly like the blue stars and green nine patch but they're all wonderful. I am working on a wall of minis also, but only have four so far. Working full time just cuts into my sewing time too much!!! Your sewing area looks great! Happy Stitching.

Now that's a whole wall full of wonderful!

I think they look amazing all together. The beauty of the wall is the interaction of all the quilts with each other. I think if i had to choose a favorite it would be the pink 9-patch in the lower left corner.

Janet O. said...

I absolutely love this!! Yes, it inspires me, but it will be a long time coming. Choose a favorite? Are you kidding??? Okay, I'll say the little tumbler quilt... no wait, maybe the blue and white stars...or... the pink and brown nine-patch. How about a top three?

Looks wonderful!!!! :O)))

Wow, the wall looks great!! I can't pick a favorite because I like so many for as many different reasons. Good luck with the hallway project, it shouldn't take you long to do another 35. ;)

I came back for a second look at your wall and I can finally pick a favorite or two. I really love the postage stamp quilt on the right and the one below it, but they are all wonderful.

WOW kathie!! inspiring or what!!! hate to have to pick a fave coz i LOVE them all but i really do like the 2 colour one, red & cheddar..very special!!

Thalia said...

I like the little blue and white stars one; it's very graphic and reads well. It almost looks like a game board, some variety of Parcheesi maybe? :)

I have a question for you. You are really very productive at this quiltmaking stuff. Do you have any tips? I know a couple weeks ago you said something about how you pick out fabric for the next few blocks the night before and leave them up on your design wall, which I can see helps keep the momentum going. I'd love to hear.

Also, I totally need my own wall of lil quilts now too. :)

Marge said...

Kathie, I am so inspired every time you share your progress on this wall. All I have to do is start with one at a time, right? Thank you for continuing to share...Marge

Love that idea and I have been inspired to finish some of the little quilts that have been waiting to be quilted or bound. I finished two last night, another just now and I can't believe I hadn't done them before. I'm about to put the binding on another.... I love all your little quilts but my favourite has to be the little nine patch, bottom left.

Karen said...

Lucky you to have a wall filled with all that inspiration!!! The blue and white stars might be my favorite.

I am in the process of building a Quilt Shed dedicated to my quilt stuff. LOL. Yes, it has come to that! What book does the photo that inspired you come from? I love research and writing so much that I don't make much time to quilt anymore, though I have begun to do some applique again because I can carry it with me when I travel with my husband to jazz events. Please do stop by and see my quilt history blogs. Everyone who writes a quilting blog today is adding to Quilt History! Just google ...Quilt History Reports doll quilts... for starters. But there is a lot more than that to explore! Hope you make lots more quilts in the New Year! Karen A.

Karen in the post I show the book and the wall of quilts in the book and the title of the book, I am guessing you just looked at the picture of my wall of quilts and didn't scroll down!!! I find it important to give credit where credit is due, this was my inspiration to make little quilts and is still is why I am making more. so I can rotate them!
