this is one of my favorite little quilts I made this year, I am thinking I may make a few for Christmas presents is this a little quilt you would use during the holidays? I am thinking on using it on my dining room table with a poinsettia plant on it or maybe a Christmas Cactus. I am really thrilled with this little quilt, Lorre did a great job quilting it, perfect colors for me all year round :)
ok so wouldn't you use this quilt all year round too????

I have 4 blocks completed now only 12 more to go! You can see Bev's completed top here.

I find myself wanting to make Christmas quilts in Dec, now why don't I start in the summer so they may actually get finished for this year? I pulled out this kit over the weekend from The Fat Quarter shop and decided I want to make something else with the fabrics instead! I may just have to start cutting and sewing today , I love this fabric line, Grace by 3 Sisters, and the red, green and tan just perfect for our home, yes this quilt will be for me!
Am I the only one that buys a kit and takes it apart and makes a different quilt with the fabrics? When you can buy kits on sale its well worth thinking outside the box and just buy it for the fabrics!
I love buying fat quarter bundles gives me a great variety of fabrics to use in my scrappy quilts or even sometimes , rarely, I will just use that fat quarter bundle for one quilt...
When you can buy them on sale its even better!
IF YOU LOVE ANTIQUE QUILTS LIKE I DO.....
then you need to check out Laura's blog she is doing her 25 days of Christmas with a different antique quilt posted every day, pure JOY!
I look forward to this every year! Thanks Laura for doing it again this year.

Can't wait to see your red and white quilt grow. I have seen Bev's version and I love it. I just posted about Laura too. It is a surprise to look at her blog every day :-)
And your mini is inspiring Kathie. I hope I'm able to sew soon and come up with a mini too!

That little quilt is an all year quilt for sure! It's too pretty to put away. The quilting on it is so wonderful! I'm loving your red and white quilt! I hadn't heard about Laura's blog so I'm glad you mentioned it, it sounds like something I wouldn't want to miss.

It must be a common thing - getting in the mood to make a Christmas quilt in December. I am doing it, now, too! I love your little table-topper, and yes, it would look great year-round!

Lovely minis!! Of course I'd use them a year around. I feel the same way about making the Christmas stuff actually during the holiday season. I know, we should have done that before hand so that we will have something ready by the season, but I just enjoy that special holiday mood while working on my Christmas theme projects. I don't do that with the kit I buy, but my quilty buddy use the fabrics from the kit for something totally different on purpose. Isnt it called being creative!!

Love your quilts! I think you can use the red and green one any time you like - it's wonderful! Thanks for the link to Laura - I love antique quilts.

I would definitely use that red, green and gold quilt all year. It would be stunning on the wall. Of course, this time of year it makes me think of Christmas. I always want to start Christmas quilts in December. They'll get finished for some Christmas even if it isn't this one. I do scavenge fabrics from kits to use in other projects. The way I look at it, it makes the kit project more of your own because you then have to substitute a fabric for the one (or more) you pilfered.

Love your newest quilt Kathie. It would be terrific for Christmas and all year round!!
Your red applique blocks are coming along nicely. It is going to be a fantastic quilt.

I often ask myself the same thing...why start in Dec...why not earlier!

I love the new blocks that you are working on! I know just what you mean about starting Christmas quilts earlier. I say that every year, but somehow it just doesn't happen :-)

I love that quilt and I would definitely display it year round. I like the simplicity of it for whipping up for the holidays. Perfect for your table topper :)

Isn't the grace fabric line just lovely. I've pulled mine out too to try and whip something up for the holidays. So beautiful.

Happy stitching

Of course I'd leave that quilt out all year - right next to the Santas that I leave out. Why hide something that makes you happy? I love those red applique blocks! Is the background tan or is it the lighting?

A lovely little quilt perfect for any time of year! I don't feel like doing Christmas sewing until Dec. either - have to be in the mood I guess.
I don't think I've met up with a 3 Sisters line that I didn't like. I can't wait to see what you make with it :0) Your applique blocks are wonderful!

Yes, that little quilt would work year round. It is fabulous! The red and white blocks are looking great, can't wait to see more. I recently bought a kit, pattern not included (and I do not have the pattern) but the kit was 50% off. Just couldn't resist those fabrics at that price. I will make something with the kit!

What size our the blocks in your green and red mini? I love the simplicity and with a fantastic quilt motif in each block like Lorre did makes it sparkle even more!
I too...watch sale kits just for the fabrics. Just because it was kitted for a certain pattern doesn't mean it can't be used for something else like you said.
I too...find I want to work on Christmas projects the first week of December.

Thanks for the reminder to see the days of Christmas posts. I love those every year too. The red blocks you are making are stunning! You have a lot of energy doing Xmas quilting this close to the holiday. You go!!

I love that little quilt, and it could work all year long!
Your applique blocks are gorgeous. What a fabric!!
I confess that I have never bought a kit for a whole quilt. I did purchase some kits for individual blocks once when they were on clearance for $.99 each. I did take the fabrics out, add some fabrics of my own and make a quilt totally different from what the patterns had been.

Your little quilt is lovely and I think you could use it all year round.

Bev's quilt is beautiful, I can understqnd why you want to make one too.

I love your mini, it'll be perfect with a Poinsettia on the table. The applique blocks look great, I love Bev's version too. I'll look forward to seeing some of the new fabrics getting used, they look lovely.

Oh I've missed so much lately. I do love the little quilt and of course I WOULD use it all year long but that's me. It's so happy. I like happy. ;) And personally I love to buy bundles of fabric but I have found that buying a kit is really a great way, maybe the best way, to find some really neat fabrics. I dig going that way.

You and Lorre did a fabulous job with that little quilt. Yes, I'd use it all year round too!
Those applique blocks are beautiful and will grow into an even more beautiful quilt! Love that Barbara Brackman fabric.
Have fun with your kit fabrics. As far as I'm concerned, once we buy it it's ours to do with as we like!
Always love looking at an antique quilt. So much inspiration.
