What can I say as soon as I saw this fabric line, Friendship by Howard Marcus, on Moda's website I knew I had to have it! I was lucky enough to get a package in the mail yesterday with this included!
These turkey reds are just to die for!!!!! I love so many of these prints, ok, ok I love them all. These turkey reds you should/ need to buy yards of and hoard in your closets trust me . Turkey reds don't come around that often that are this good. Here is the whole line.
When I laid out the fabrics my eyes went to the browns and blues, just soooo nice together in mho , yes I admit it I am becoming a blue fan! I may need to make a brown and blue little quilt once I can buy a 1/2 yard bundle of this line! or even a big quilt.
and you KNOW I love red and brown quilts, yes I see another one in my future! these are perfect together!
oh and add in some of these great creamy beige fabrics....Perfect don't you agree?????
I started a fund to buy bolts of these turkey reds the line will be out in March of 2012, start asking your local quilt shops or favorite on line shops to order it now! I love that Moda does these collections for a cause fabric lines, not only are the fabrics from antique quilts but the profits are used to support so many wonderful causes, This friendship line it says
Supporting the Cause…
Feeding America
“Whose mission is to feed
America’s hungry through a
nationwide network of
member food banks and
engage our country in the
fight to end hunger.”
nice to know a company is giving back and my purchases will help support this cause too, even if its just a little dent in the whole picture makes me feel good.
disclaimer NO I don't work for Moda just a VERY satisfied customer
now we just need those limey bright greens that are in the turkey red prints made into fabric for leaves and stems! I need a few bolts of those too!

Ohh those reds are wonderful!!
Wow.. this post makes me I have to order some of these beautiful reds.. and yes the blues. I somehow I love blues! These are a thrill, nice collection Kathie
OMG those reds are just glorious. I agree we need bolts!
It looks like the nicest full line that I've seen in a long, long time.
Oh, I agree. The whole line is glorious, but the reds...yum.
Those are beautiful, Kathie. Thanks for sharing them. I do love that Turkey red.
Beautiful fabric. Yep, you need bolts of those!! :)
Oh those fabrics are yummy. I love the reds but blue and brown is my favorite combination.
Lovely!! Can't wait to see what you come up with. I know it'll be great!
Blessings
Yes, you're right. I need to buy some of those reds. A bolt fund is a good idea...Better upsize my penny jar :)
So many ways to give to those less fortunate. Red is a difficult color. That shade is stunning. Sometimes a bolt is a necessary thing. :o)
What a lovely lot of fabrics!!
Exciting line to look for! Love the reds too and am drawn to those blues - not a color I work with often.
Do you have the North Carolina Quilt History book? Just got it and there is a cheddar Evening Star quilt in there - thought of you with your love of cheddar. (Have the page showing on my blog)
Those are great reds. People sometimes have this impression that vintage quilts are all dull colors. Not!
This whole line is wonderful--I am partial to blue and brown. : )
I agree!
With everything you wrote. There are never many - enough! - greens to go with these sorts of collections.
So maybe you're thinking about a red and green quilt? ;)
I bought a whole slew of turkey red fabrics by Blank Quilting a few years ago and am hoarding them for that VERY SPECIAL quilt. At the same time, I also purchased some indigo fabric and it has always been my intention to make a red, white and blue quilt with them. Now I just have to find the 'right' pattern.
Looks like I'm going to have to add more of the turkey reds with Moda's new line. Oh darn! *wink*
good cause & I'm sure to do my best in support because I will definitely be purchasing those reds....
All gorgeous, agreed agreed! I vote for the greens to be made as well :)
You are SO right. I need these reds! And the blues and browns - perfect together.
All of those shades look beautiful together, definitely some new quilts in the making.
Debbie
What a gorgeous line!! The creams and reds look so pretty together. You are a lucky duck to get pieces of this line so early - I'm lime green with envy :0)
Wow Kathy, I absolutely love that fabric. Wish it were coming out sooner! I really like the Moda quilt that goes with it too. I have my own in mind for it but it will have to wait. Hope I can keep this fabric in mind and be ready for it when it comes out!
Oooo, complete and utter yumminess!
Thanks kathie :-) I'm also going to have to start a savings fund. Those reds........
Yes, the stash is low on reds so it's time to load up!
l saw the original antique quilt, and the reproduction of that quilt using the new turkey red fabrics at market, and boy are they stunning. Save a bolt or 2 for me!!!
Those are quite beautiful for sure. So tempting to buy up all the fabrics I love.
That looks like a GREAT line...love the reds! I just spent some time catching up on your blog...I have been MIA for several weeks and I've missed so much! And my friend gave me the Sew Scrappy magazine, I saw the quilt on the front and thought of you before I ever looked to see if it WAS you. I was practically screaming, "I know her, I know her!!" (I think my friend thinks I'm NUTS!) Congrats on another cover quilt!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
OH MY GOSH.....beautiful!!!! No need to say more.
Wonderful reds. Can't wait to see what you make with them. Keep safe from snow storms!!
I love this fabric. Thank you for your blog, you keep me inspired.
I agree, this group of fabrics is a winner. I see some of it in my future.
Such gorgeous fabrics, you are a bad influence Kathie. Granted it is the year of red and white.
These fabrics are so yummy and yes you do need bolts of them. Love the b&R and B&b too.
Those colors are fantastic! I don't usually buy whole lines, but I may have to get this. Thanks for sharing.
So beautiful - you lucky girl. You are right it's so hard to find good reds!!
