I finished making the blocks from Lori of Humble Quilts blog sewed them together. I was waiting for the next set of instructions for the border blocks but well....I fell in love with this little quilt just the way it is. I am calling mine done and Thanks to Lori for the tutorial. I love my little quilt, I am very happy I went with the colors from the antique quilt.
Here is an antique little quilt I am reproducing. It has the borders of the checkerboard but again not sure I want to add them to my little quilt! Maybe I have a mental block against borders lately? Or am I thinking simple is best sometimes?
my nine patches so many of you said keep posting the progress! I will have to take them down soon as I need the design wall space! I will need 900 of them to make the quilt I want....yes you read that right 900 , 3" little finished nine patches !
I really have enjoyed seeing all the house blocks popping up all over blogland, I love house quilts. Miki's house blocks have me smiling and intrigued to once again,MAYBE , try and make a few liberated houses. I even took out Gwen Marstons Liberated quilt making books, I have the original hard cover and the newer one and started reading them (scary huh?)
are there any tutorials to make wonky houses in blogland??? Think I can make them wonky????
Did you see Tara's quilt, Katie's string star quilt, its all about the fabrics in mho! I could stare at this quilt forever! I am considering buying the book....I have the scraps to make this quilt too!!!!! (your not surprised are you?) just need the book and the blue fabric!
Here is a house quilt I made quite a few years ago, its from a Jan Patek pattern.

I love that little house quilt. I love Jan Patek's designs. I have a few of her books - Love the little pink one too - Love Nat
Kathie, all your quilts, in progress or complete, are gorgeous! I think Pink Lemonade is calling my name, but then your little red and white quilt is also beckoning-love it!
I think the 3" nine patches is just so "you". It has all the hallmarks of an "Inspired by Antique Quilts" look. How many to go? It must be keeping you busy, along with all the other projects you are working on.
I am always so inspired by your little quilts that I started my own wall for the few I have.
What a sweet Pink Lemonade quilt! I love yours so I may go without the pieced corner pieces too. Yours just looks so sweet!
Love your 9 patches,,,and can't wait to see some little houses;)
Looks like you've been having fun. The 9 patches are just so wonderful.
What an amazing quilt you will after with those 900 itty bitty 9-patches. I do think sometimes we just know when to stop...not every quilt needs a border. Love the little one in the first photo.
Love your blog! Just wanted to let you know that you can order the pattern for the string quilt (without getting the entire book) on the Fons and Porter website. I know because I was really tempted by it myself!
Happy Sewing!
Kathie,
You are a very busy quilter! Love all your little quilts and the nine patch is going to be wonderful! Personally, I like the checkerboard border on the little quilt, but am sure it will look good whatever you decide.
Woo hoo! All kinds of goodness going on!!
Love the tiny 9 patches!!
You have a lot to share! I love your house quilt. It looks very cozy. Think I have to make something like this too :-)
Great wall of blocks! I am trying to figure out how to quilt my pink lemonade and taking advantage of another snow day.
OMG, OMG there you again continuing to inspire me and others. I have little to no interest in making large quilts so I'm excited about small quilts.
Thank you, Kathie!
I am doing the quilt along with Lori too. Love your little house block. House blocks are everywhere suddenly "new" again. Love how things cycle around. Pam
I'm loving it all. Yes, sometimes simpler is better. Great job on those small ones!
You've been wonderfully busy!
Just love your little house quilt.
Your pink lemonade turned out beautiful and love seeing all those nine patches too!
It's always fun to visit your blog. You're always working on something wonderful.
I love your quilt from Lori's tutorial. I've found my yellow, but don't have enough so that means I need to head out and get some.
Love the house quilt. Aren't they just the neatest quilts?!
Doll quilts generally look more vintage without borders, imho. The pink and white looks pretty great with them, though :)
Love your 9 patch progress. Makes me think of Gwen, who says, make a simple block, and make it over and over again. But 900, wow!
I like your take on Pink Lemonade.
Those 9-patches are boggling my mind. I know, you only have to make one at a time, but my mind always leaps ahead to the total needed and it paralyzes me!
Beautiful little house quilt--blue and brown together are on my current "favorite" list. : )
My goodness! 900 9-patch blocks!!! You'll be able to make them in your sleep soon enough LOL!!
Love your Pink Lemonade quilt, I have yet to sew it together, but I'm loving this project!!! Look forward to seeing your checkerboard quilt completed too, sometimes these small quilts look just fine without a border!!!!
Inspiration in abundance today. Thanks for the link to the string star quilt. I agree that the fabrics make the quilt. Her pops of double pinks and cheddar here are there are such a great contrast with the navy setting fabric.
Your goal of 900 little 9-patch blocks makes my stomach do a flip-flop. No way I could be that focused, but I bet you'll reach your goal.
I like your Pink Lemonade. I am anxious to get back home and finish mine.
Always enjoy your blog - have been reading for quite a while!
Judy
Your Pink Lemonade is really nice. I don't have the right yellow and I want to use yellow so I am holding off for that. The 9 patch blocks are looking great!
I enjoy seeing what you folks are up to when it comes to quilts, and the work that goes into making one. Richard
Love your pink lemonade mini. I went and visited Tara and ogled her fabulous quilt and now have the book on order. Am also loving your progress on the colourful nine patch.
I LOVE your pink and white quilt! That seems to be the color combo I'm gravitating to right now. It's January. Winter. Cold and wet. Why do I like pink? Your Jan P house is darling. I'd recognize her tree even if you hadn't said. Great job on all of them!
I LOVE that cheddar background. Your little quilts are so much fun. I often prefer to not add borders too.
Your little quilts are gorgeous and I think they look great just the way they are. Goodness me, you are going to be making a lot of 9 patches!
is it possible that if you use reproduction fabrics and call it "primitive" rather than "wonky" that the houses might appeal a bit more?
LOVE those fabrics and must consider getting some into my stash . . .
i think your simpler version of pink lemonade is great and wish i'd thought of that. i finished piecing my top together yesterday and must get a photo of it tomorrow so that i can get it into my blog soon. still thinking about the backing and how to quilt it.
the small quilts sure are fun, aren't they?!
:-)

That pink lemonade quilt is wonderful. I love the yellow you've chosen for the setting squares.
Kathie,
I like your "smaller" version of the Pink Lemonade quilt.
Always find interesting tidbits when stopping by your blog. You are usually up to something charming and cute with your repro fabrics. :)
Judy
Your setting for Pink Lemonade is different and it works well.
You've been busy with so many nice quilting projects. I love your little pink lemonade version. Thanks for the nice visit.
