I started out with this idea on Saturday, I just love this blue fabric ....well the blocks were too big for me. Ok I admit it I like little blocks even for queen size quilts I don't mind making a million (ok what feels like a million!) blocks for a quilt
well so normally I would just put these blocks into that "box" I was talking about in my past posts and yes forget about them!
Not anymore since I joined Christmas Through the Year band wagon! so I just started slicing up the blocks and this is what I came up with to add to my Christmas presents for this year.
oh and did you notice anything in the toile fabric????
maybe this quilt needs to be named...someones watching over you?
or big brother is watching....any other suggestions????

my all time favorite
That is beautiful fabric! Wonder who that man is?
I love that navy fabric too and yes, big brother is watching you! LOL I don't suppose you got his whole face on one of the little blocks?
Oh Kathie I am absolutely in love with these two fabrics!!! What a great little quilt you have here for when he time comes. I'm not sure if I have any suggestions though. Hmmm...
Great color combo. That was meant to be!
That is a great quilt! What are those gorgeous fabrics? Aack! I need them :D
Love both fabrics and both quilts but I have to admit that I prefer small quilts also.
Pretty cheddar quilt!
Kathie, you talk about blue fabric and toile and I dont see either?!
What a great idea to transform the rail fence into 9 patches! It looks fabulous.
I'm not sure if my eyes are getting old or if I am losing my ability to see the whole from pieces, but I don't know what was pictured in the toile.
Or maybe since I am a Univ of Illinois alum, I'm only concentrating on the colors. The words from one of the school songs are rining in my mind right now: "Hail to the orange, Hail to the blue..."
Very pretty - and congrats on getting a jumpstart on gifts nearly a year ahead of time.
I also love those fabrics. They are some awesome colors. Good call on going small. I like the little checkerboard look you got.
Very nice! Love the fabric choices...someone will be very pleased at Christmas!
I like it! You did a wonderful job of changing your blocks to create the quilt that you wanted.
Slicing the blocks up is such a good idea when we don't like the 'bigness' of them! I love your finished top.
Kathie, I decided to check your blog photo on my work computer. Now it looks navy! LOL On my home moniter it looked like a great fall quilt- brown and cheddar!!
You created a perfect solution to your disliked blocks. I love it!!!! Way to go.
I love little pieces, too.....this little quilt is sweet sweet sweet!
What a great solution to your big block dilemma!!! Love those colours together, your little quilt turned out beautifully!!!
Funny the things we see, isn't it. I saw the wagon in the toile and its wheels chimed with the circles in the blue fabric. I thought your quilt had to be named wagon wheels! Still, it's lovely and I think navy and orange are a classic combo.
I'm with you... honestly when I saw the first photo, ewww.. that's not Kathie's! And I do love the blue fabric. But I LOVE the checkerboard. It's more of a contrast with the blue boarder. I think "cheddar checkers" would be a good name! Don't you just love playing with fabric, until it's just right? I do!
Am I on your Christmas list? Just hoping. : )
So at our house we always referred to "Every Breath You Take" as the stalker song. Is this the stalker quilt?
Oh yeah, I like it too. Christmas through the year band wagon! I must check it out - thanks Kathie - hugs Nat
This turned out fabulous! I LOVE those colors/fabrics! This is so striking - it just glows. And way to go on being ready for Xmas next year!
cute little quilt - I love that cheddar toile' and somehow I missed it, only had the black.
You've been super busy!
