I was trying to capture the texture the machine quilting added to my quilt, I hope you can see it. Just love the way this looks.
Ah a new phase for me in two color quilts....blue and white/tan/beige perhaps? I have a few I would like to reproduce/be inspired by from antique quilts. stay tuned!

I love the simplicity of this quilt and see no long borders added but the blue acts as a border in mho. I find there are ways to add a border to your quilt by just changing the color you use on the outside round of a quilt. I will bind it in the same blue this weekend. Finally we are expecting some snow this weekend, yeah! time to do some hand quilting and binding. I have 3 big quilts that need binding.

Here is Betsy's new fabric line, Hot for Chocolate 11, thanks Betsy! I just love so many of these fabrics. One never has enough of pinks, browns and well you know I love reds :) I ordered more of Betsy's line here at Whittles.

another view of the fabrics and some books I have out I am reading/studying right now...
yes a bit out of my comfort zone and normal quilting style but its good to try new things, right?
Or maybe its time to just admire them from afar and keep with my own style, keeping the traditional quilt making alive!

I have long admired Karen's work and just had to share this post with you
just look at the hand quilting of her latest quilt, OMG isn't it beautiful!

Im so in love with your blue quilt. I have to work on mine again. The quilting is great! (Tip for the picture, place the quilt in daylight and take the picture without flash)

Kathie1
I like your new setting for the blog.
The blue quilt looks so you! Do I see all those contemporary and improv quilting magazines and books? All of your reproduction fabrics would make beautiful quilts in that style. I still think those quilts are best made with repro or used fabrics.

The blue and beige is stunning! I am really drawn to that color combination, and I love the frame that the blue setting triagles makes!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Dangit! Another 2 color quilt combination I want to try!

Hey, I'm not connected to this shop or anything but I thought you might like the idea of this kit. It's a Snow Day surprise. Order the kit at a reduced price, kit arrives, first day of 5" of snow the pattern arrives and then the price of the kit goes back to normal.

Sounds like fun. I posted a photo of the color palette on my blog too.

(let's try again with an actual link --- http://www.quilterscorner-pa.com/whats_new/whats_new.php )

Oh, that blue and cream is delightful. I agree...blue binding and done! Love the new fabrics, when I am not heading out to work I will have to jump over for a peak (to Whittles I mean ~ not your place!).

Your blue and white/tan look so clean and fresh together.

I just love the blue and white quilts and their simplicity too. I do agree that the blue triangle setting on the outside makes for a great border. I love that. Awesome quilting!

I sometimes venture out trying new things, but my heart always comes back to traditional quilting. It's what I love most. It's my goal this year to stick with what I love most.

Those are great fabrics! I'm gonna have to check them out!

Love the blue setting triangles as the border. It's perfect just that way! Gorgeous quilt.
Try turning off the flash when trying to capture the quilting for a photo. It's a challenge.
Betsy's fabrics are to die for. Have fun quilting on a snowy weekend. How perfect is that!

When I first saw your picture of the chocolate & pink fabrics laid out as you have them, I thought you were making Denise Schmidt's quilt made of repeated slightly angled verticle strips of fabric about 18" long. This fabric looks good in that design -- today your blog has inspired me to make a not-antique quilt!

Another beautiful quilt finish Kathie! Congratulations!
I too love the vintage look of tan/beige as a substitute for white in 2 color quilts.

Your blue Irish chain is gorgeous....and I love the border treatment you did. It does make a huge difference to not just slap on the usual strip border. This one just shines because of your piecing. Love it!

I love checking out new blogs.....thanks for the link. I just came from there, and she follows a lot of the same blog I do, so I know we have similar interests! AND, her hand quilting on that log cabin is wonderful.

Your blue and tan/white/beige is beautiful!!! I love the effect of an added border you get without actually adding a border. Stunning!

One of my favorite patterns of all, the Irish chain is so versatile and your blue/tan is absolutely to die for. Great quilting job and yes I saw the texture, wonderful.
Love Betsy's new fabric line too. Have a wonderful day binding while it snows, great place the indoors are when the weather turns out not to be great.condedge

Aaah, the blue and tan - so classic!
It is very fun to look at books of antique quilts, and ones that aren't right up the repro alley. Keeps the juices flowing.
Enjoy the snow! We are getting it here today in NW Indiana. Soft and gentle & really pretty!

I can't wait to see what you do with all the pinks and browns.

The blue nine-patch is quite stunning!!! Love the border-type treatment too, frames the quilt very nicely without taking away from the on-point nature of the layout!!!!
Betsy's new line has some very luscious pinks in there, beautiful!!!

The nine patch is gorgeous Kathie and totally love how the outside blue frames it without adding a border. Thanks for sharing.
