MY latest little quilt inspired by an antique quilt . First time I made a quilt where the border design did not line up perfectly....I kept telling myself Gwen Marston would not think twice about it, just cut it off I could hear my friend Judy say too and I knew she will just be so proud! (right Judy????)

an update on my 3" finished nine patches, I won't be blogging about these until I have a lot more to share, I don't want to bore you!

Here are the 3 little quilts I made this year so far (see what borders I decided on!)...now its time to step back from making little quilts (oh but they are so fun to make and fit in my schedule right now!) and get back to work on a big quilt I am working on. I hope it snows soon I love hand quilting when its snowing , instead of middle of winter I feel like its the beginning of spring with the temps we have been having here.
Cheri is doing a quiltalong for a quilt inspired by the same antique quilt I did but you can be sure hers will be prim! Check it out! I figured that out yesterday and sent her a picture of mine!

Oh wait a minute I get to make one more little quilt Lori's quilt along I pulled fabric for it, so I already started it right? that doesn't count as another start , don't you agree????

I love the unmatched border! It really adds interest. Such a lot of fun sewing happening in your sewing room.

I am making the Pink Lemonade QAL with Lori also. I need to finish Part 2 before she finishes her Dear Jane quilting. I love your Mini quilts.

I really like the mixed border! It gives the quilt variety and is different than so many others. Nice job.

You are abusy girl! I love the mismatched border, very unexpected!

The border you selected looks great. As far as Lori's QAL goes...go for it. So far, I have resisted all the temptation out there, but I am waiting to see what Cheri's final step is.

Love your little quilts and the nine patch on your design wall.

I am doing Lori's little quilt too. Working on it some more today :) These little QAL's are fun.

I'm hoping for snow too.

Did a quilt with the border unmatched once, but I did use cornerstones. It was hard to let myself do it, but I survived and think I could probably do it again someday. : ) Like what you have done with the little sawtooth border. The minis all look wonderful--love 'em!
I've had my fabrics for Lori's doll quilt pulled since she announced the colors, but just barely started cutting and sewing last night. Definitely vote that it is not another start, since it was already on deck!

Love that new little quilt AND the borders. There's always time for little quilts, instant satisfaction. And of course, instant inspiration for us!

I am starting to enjoy smaller projects. On really small quilts though, how do you hand quilt them? Just throw out the hoop and do it free hand?

Thanks for any advice! :)

It is fun to see something out of the norm...cute! Even when I quilt a client quilt I get delighted to see make do pieces. It really does add interest. The one thing I truly love about minis is instant gratification! Enjoy your day!

I like it! Funny how not matching or cutting off points is more challenging for us. It takes willpower to leave it imperfect.

P.S. I like the fabrics you pulled for Lori's quilt-a-long. I have been trying to remain an admirer but your choices are so tempting.

I love the pink and red quilt! Alright, I love them all but I keep going back to and smiling with that one. Gorgeous.

I look forward to seeing your quilt-along progress. I like what you're starting with. :)

I love all of these.

The first time I cut off the border like that, it was really really hard to do! But it makes the quilt look older and since I copied an antique, that was good. Same for yours!!! You really are busy, getting that much finished besides the in-progress.

You have made a lot of wonderful new pieces, I need to get back into machine quilting and make some new pieces.

love the borders, don't know about Judy, but I'm proud of you!
great fabrics for Lori's quilt along - I've pulled them too, but haven't started.
Love all your littles Kathie!

Kathie, we appear to have a few things in common! I, too, am planning to make Pink Lemonade. And, I too, like to work on many projects at once! And this topic is one I broach (briefly) in my blog post today in which I have referenced you. Just thought you might like to know! Happy Quilting!

Love the new R&W checkerboard. The borders make it!

You are just a doll quilt making machine! Love pink and red together, and plan to make that one, along with Lori's doll quilt along. We are finally seeing some winter here, and plan to "hunker down", and spend time on these little ones.

great border on a really fun quilt. love that color combination. I made a patriotic checkerboard and it's one of my favorite quilts - and certainy one of the easiest. hope your taking a class from Gwen this spring when she's teaching in the area!

I do love how your 9 patch is turning out. I might just have to start one myself. I have a large bin of 1.5" strips that would be a good start.

Oh! you won't regret doing Lori's Pink Lemonade!!! I have just finished the second installment and am loving this project so much!!! Your first little pink quilt with the unmatched border looks very vintage, I would'nt worry too much, it adds so much to the character of it!!!

They are all fabulous, you don't bore me at all!!

I keep looking at your nine patches in this post and the previous one and thinking how much I would like to make a quilt of all nine patches too. Have to put that on my bucket list. Congrats on your finishes.

I love pink and red together. A simple quilt, but very striking! Love it!

I too love the red & white squares with the pink boarder! It is very "Gwenny". :) haha

I love that the border doesn't match, Cheri's quilts are so adorable.

Yep I agree...and Pink Lemonade goes together fast!

There are few things in life as wonderful as hand quilting in a snow storm!
Happy that you picked my favorite border combo for the scrappy strips!!
And double happy to see you are joining Lori's quilt along!

I'm so glad you chose to do the border like that, it adds such a lot to the wee quilt.
The nine patch is looking fabulous.
