What started out as one project turned into another! I wasn't happy with the way it was coming out so I shifted gears and made my liberated stars into a little quilt. Normally these blocks get put in a box and have to admit usually stay there. This year my goal is to use more of what I have and finish a few quilts I started. So instead of putting these blocks into that box! I decided on making them into a quilt/table topper. Then I decided it is my first quilt of the year that will be a Christmas present
Have you see where Darlene and Cheryl started this Christmas Thru the Year project?

That feels good one present made!

here is a little tip when I sew sashing on I mark with a generals chalk pencil where the previous row of sashing is
this way when I pin I can match them up easily....try it and let me know if it works for you.
the liberated star blocks are 6" finished

You're going to make someone very happy this coming Christmas with this little beauty. Love that green border -- is it called Poison Green?

That's a great tip. I had trouble once lining up sashings with no cornerstones, and didn't think to mark them! Beautiful little quilt! Perfect start to your Christmas projects!

I like this star quilt. I am also trying to make one Christmas gift per month. This month it was a table runner and I actually have cut out another one and have it half complete.

Love liberated star quilt! I am hoping to have more finishes this year than starts. Hope I can stay focused!

Thanks for the tip. That makes so much sense. I avoid that type of sashing because I do have problems with everthing matching up.

Yeah, first gift of the year. Takes the pressure off. I dig it. And I didn't know what was going on with this so thanks for sharing. Now maybe I can reconsider what I might do with these poor blocks that turn into nothing. Thanks for sharing the tip, too.

PS: I like that copyright info you post on your sidebar. Have you considered incorporating Pinterest pulls in that as well? I've noticed some folks have done that. Just curious.

What a wonderful start on your Christmas gifts with a darling star quilt. Good job of not letting those darling star blocks get put into the bin.

I think fate took you in a good direction. I love that little red and green beauty. Thanks for the tip on the sashing. Excellent suggestion and I will try it the next time. That's two helpful tips you've given me recently. I am not successfully sewing on bindings without the walking foot.

I like the backgrounds that you've chosen for your stars! A Christmas gift already-I'm so impressed. You'll miss out on the stress, I mean joy, of creating last minute Christmas quilts ;-)
