when I can't close the box anymore its time to make a few more postage stamp blocks!
next to the sewing machine , where I left off yesterday, need to press and sew together...
Oh my isn't it just wonderful seeing all these different reproduction fabrics together? As I always say its all about the fabrics!
its fun reminiscing what quilts I made with some of these fabrics, and some I wonder do I have any more left?
on the cutting table ready to pin and sew together
2 more blocks made
my goal this week is 5!
If you love antique quilts like I do you need to go visit this blog, Tim Latimer - quilts etc
oh my gosh just beautiful antique quilts. I really appreciate when people take the time to share pictures and the story of their day with us. Thank you Tim!
Beth wrote about it as well... wish this would have happened when I lived in Michigan!
Interested in adding another project to your list this year????
Randy from Barristers Block blog is hosting a quilt along that I am going to have to join. Its a quilt that has intrigued me, Farmers Wife, I have ordered the book, I thought I owned it! I like the challenge of making blocks, especially little blocks! I wouldn't have chose and its one I will make from my scrap basket.
Here is a book I bought recently and am enjoying reading...
Quilts in the Attic, uncovering the hidden stories of the quilts we love
by Karen S. Musgrave
one more blog, Davids Cottage down the hill, to go visit and see this beautiful japanese taupe pouch OH was I ever impressed, just beautiful isn't it?
its all about the fabrics and the details in this one....
I just LOVE it!

Gosh look at that box full of little squares!! And yes all those repro fabrics look wonderful!! You always have so many inspiring links, I'm off to check them out.
such a great idea Kathie. I love the block.
Thanks for the great links.
So you sew your postage stamps in rows?
Do they keep their shape?
Love the combination of all those gorgeous fabrics.
Lovely little squares. I happen to be working with some civil war repro yesterday. :o) Thanks for the links. I love that Amazon let you "look inside" books.
Great links...love those antique quilts. Happy stitching Kathie!
Wonderful, to think that I got rid of these little scraps, not anymore though!
I always enjoy your links! Thank you.
The Farmer's Wife blocks are fun. A group of us are doing them at the shop where I work. One gal did them in a bright Christmas line and they look fabulous, however most of us are doing them in scrappy reproduction. Have fun!
I have the Farmer's Wife book but became a little intimated looking at it. I'll have fun watching your progress! Love love love your postage stamps!
Yes, I'm going to follow along with Randy's QAL too. I have had the book for way too long to not have the quilt to show for it :D
Love the postage stamps quilting. I need to do that too!
Love Tim's blog and David's too. Thank y ou for sharing those with us.
Thanks for sharing the links! Your little blocks are going to be great! Fun to see all the little pieces of fabric.
Yes Kathie--- when those pieces get to small make another scrappy quilt.... Love the postage stamps!!
Thanks for sharing the links with us.
:-) Carolyn
Just came back from Tim's post. What a treat!!
I had noticed that book on Amazon just recently. Looks so intriguing. I think I saw it after ordering a copy of The Farmer's Wife in order to do Randy's QAL. I'm a hesitant joiner. I don't usually join things because I never keep up and it becomes a frustration, but I, too, have been intrigued by this quilt and I'm going to give it a try.
Love your postage stamp blocks, as usual. : )
those fabrics are just amazing....you are so right...it's all about the fabric! going to be a wonderful quilt!
Tim

I just love those postage stamp blocks! I really want to do that, too! And thanks for the links....I just came from the quilt turning at Tim Latimer's site.....fabulous quilts! Wow! And that Davids Cottage blog is beautiful....those photos are lovely. Thanks!
What an awesome use for your scrap squares! I love that it's a "no pressure" project - just sew when the box fills up! I think I'm going to have to start one of these postage stamp quilts :)
Great idea, to have a box expecially for postage stamp size pieces of preciousness! The blocks in progress look great!
Thankyou for the great links!!
I love your new project. I think Lori did something like that recently when we retreated together. They are little rectangles, right? It's only list also. And your 9-patches are fabulous!!!
Love the block and thanks for the link.
I've always loved this project. What a scrap masterpiece it will be and a great history quilt of fabrics!
i would just love to snag your box of little postage size squares..how fun! i will have to start my own box. what size do you cut them too?
Thanks for all the links. I am to the point where I use those cut pieces or get a larger box. I admit that sewing them into something is like re-visiting the past.
Hi Kathie, I have really enjoy following your blog. Do you cut all your squares the same size and what is a good size to make. What size are the blocks you have posted today? I love all the links you give us and love reading the different blogs. I will watch if you can post your answer in a blog post. Thanks, Sandi
Thanks for all the great links!
Your little postage stamp quilt is charming! I'm close to needing to do one as well.
Thanks for recommending the books, they look great.
Yes, you're right Kathy, it's all about the fabrics and what is great with a project like the postage stamp quilt is that each piece of fabric reminds you the quilt from where it was first used. That's fun!!
Thank you very much for the nice comment you wrote on my post and the link you've put in yours.
Have a great weekend.
I love your postage stamps! You are really picking up speed. I am on my third block and anxious to make more when I see them finished. So simple, but so fun!
