I couldn't resist starting this little quilt SPOT by Carrie from Miss Rosie's Quilt Company My first Schnibbles quilt!
oh and yes Of course I had to use my favorite turkey red fabric right now in a block! Civil War Reunion by Barbara Brackman for MODA.
Hope to bind this little quilt today , its only been ready to sew down for a few weeks now. I like using little quilts like this to decorate for holidays, think St Patricks day in March. Look what I put on the back, I can't just make a green quilt it has to have some red in it!, don't tell me your surprised are you?
When I make backings now I am trying to use the big pieces i have in my closets, here are two backings I sewed together recently. I am wondering if I should write that on my label it is actually two different colors/fabrics so when quilt historians 100 years from now (if my quilts survive that long!) look at the backs and think it was sun damaged or washed out OR do I keep them guessing like we do when we look at antique quilts now? What would you do? keep them guessing or write it on the label?

Love those little Crossroads blocks...I think I'd let them guess what I was thinking...that's always so much fun when I look at an old quilt.
Definately keep them guessing, it's all part of the fun!
Love the little "T" quilt.
The little schnibbles will be so cute and the red is great. Adore the little 't'...and the green is a nice fabric. I too say keep them guessing!
lol I was going to say keep them guessing, but you could say you are going to keep me guessing when I ask if your lovely little green quilt is Darting Birds....So I will have to say.....Write in the info! lol Seriously though, I think you should put in as much information as YOU would like to put in.
I think I would keep them guessing. I often don't put any label on my quilt. Lazy, I guess!
Love the little T quilt. You must have a bolt of that Barbara Brackman fabric.
I am using more than one fabric to make my backings too. This way I use up fabric from the closet and don't have to buy larger than life yardages :D
I love your quilt block. I need to start making some of my Schnibbles quilts. I've had a Schnibbles patterns staring at me near my ironing board for over a year now! LOL
I love your little green quilt and the block pattern. That is a cutie. Love the back.
Boy oh boy how I love the turkey red in the new Collection for a cause 'Friendship' fabric line. Yummo!
Kathie,
I'd do the historians a favor and document what you used. (If not on the back of the quilt - perhaps you could do it in a journal.) Think how much we appreciate that when we find a quilt where documentation has been done.
How big is the little green quilt with the Baptist fans? Very cute quilt.
Judy
Keep them guessing! They're made-up story will probably be interesting!
What width do you cut your bindings for your little quilts? I'm about at that point on a couple of mine.
I think they will be able to tell you used two colorways in the future. Your little quilts are nice. I am making your rail fence quilt now from AP and Q from last year. Fun project!!!!
The backs are so cool with the two fabrics in same prints. I would be so tempted to leave them guessing in the future. I guess it wouldn't be as fun if you can't eavesdrop on the conversation. I love, love, love that green T quilt. I think adding the red back is a surprise. It is so unexpected when you see the front of the quilt.
Love your new Schnibbles quilt - enjoy schnibbling. LOL
The green little quilt is adorable. Keep 'em guessing. :-)
The red in the first photo has been a favorite of mine too.
I would not put anything on the label about the backing. Keep em guessing:)
I just finished quilting my little Valentine colored quilt late last night. Now I see your little green one (with the lovely red backing) and I want to go make one of those. A quilter's work is never done.
I like the two-toned backings, and I wouldn't tell, if I were you. : )
Keep them guessing! Love your little quilts.
I love the little green T quilt. Can you tell me what size it is. I would love to make a bunch of little quilts. I'm so inspired by the beautiful little ones you make.

Keep them guessing. It will give them something to research! Your Schnibbles is going to be great in that gorgeous red.
Another great little quilt! Keep them guessing, of course!
Your little quilts are so sweet. The green one is unusual, I dont think I've seen that pattern before,of course you had to put red on the back, lol!!! I hadn't thought of using clips to hold binding in place. I'll try that next time i'm binding. I've been sewing my big pieces together for backings, I really like the look of them. I wonder how long our blogs will last for future historians to use as a reference.
Love the blocks.
Thanks for nice tips :-)
Your little green quilt is great...and I really like the red backing, perfect! Have fun with your little Schnibbles quilt, love the fabric you are using!
Love the little green quilt, beautiful piece and fabrics.
I always use scraps or uglies for the backs if they are for me, but like something nicer when I gift it.
Debbie
Nice little "T" quilt and I can see it being used for St. Patrick's Day as a subtle touch of the green.
Another vote here for keep them guessing. I'm like Debbie from above (Woolen Sails). I'll put anything on the back of my quilts, but if it's a gift, it matches or at least looks planned.
Question--what width binding do you use on your little quilts? Always a single layer binding? I'm getting mixed suggestions from local gals.
Keep them guessing! Of course your talking to someone who seldom puts labels on my quilts!
Oh, such pretty fabrics in your Schnibbles block. I have yet to make one of those quilts. One day, maybe.
LOVE the little schnibbles quilt-let!!!
Love that little green quilt! Glad to read that I'm not the only one that has projects in waiting to be tackled! ;o) As for the history stuff, I say "keep them guessing"! That's the fun of it all! If you know everything, there's nothing left for the imagination. Thanks for sharing!
