I decided to join Randy from Barrister's Block Blog in her Farmers Wife Sow-a-long! I love making little blocks and thought this would be fun, no pressure!
I already made one block (rail fence block) different then the pattern called for! OH well I liked this layout better!
heres the boy baby quilt I made. hard to capture the blue color.
I picked up the ruler yesterday and some grey fabric for Sujata's and Barbara Brackman's Victorian Hexagon Quiltalong...
I am planning on making my first block tomorrow. I thought I would get to it today oh well! I thought this gray fabric would play nicely with my repros, I can't wait to get started. It was so nice of Sujata to give us a tutorial on the blocks.
If the grey doesn't work I am considering using a variety of blacks, will be bolder and limit my darker repro fabrics maybe I will have to get out the basket full of bright repros I have for a few applique projects I have been working on!
I am also considering joining the Jubilee Quilt Project......Have you heard of this one too???? Sounds like fun too....
this is so unusual for me to join quilt a longs or bom's I normally like to work on what ever inspires me that day, I hope I can keep up with these quilt along s! If not thats ok with me too.

The Farmer's Wife will be a fun little smapler quilt!! I went and checked out the hexagon quiltalong and that was not what I expected. Looks like fun though!!
Kathie,
your farmer's wife blocks are GREAT. I don't see anything "wrong" with the rail fence. I mean, seriously? Is there a right way to do it?? NO!!!
I'm so glad you're joining in. I'm going to have to do that linky thing, I think, so everyone can see what we've been doing.
Sweet little baby quilt, Kathie!
Quilt-alongs should be renamed drag-alongs. They certainly make me work harder and keep me more motivated. I think you won't regret joining in.
Love the baby boy quilt!!
Glad you've joined the Farmer's wife QAL. Your blocks are great!
Besides work and reconfiguring the quilt closet, I'm doing great at not keeping up!! LoL
Sounds like you will be very busy in a good way. Have funnnnnnn.
Love the baby blue quilt, can tell what shade it is, even if the camera didn't pick it up right.

As I started reading this post I was surprised to see that you were "joining up" on some quilt-alongs. I know it has not been your nature. This must be the year for non-joiners to join. It sure has been for me.
I like your Farmer's Wife blocks and it will be fun to have you participating!
So is this your Jubilee year or are you just playing along anyway?
Nice to see I'm not the only one "Inspired" by QAL on Blogs. I like your rail fence too. Mine reminded me a little of a swastika.
Great news Kathie - see you at The Jubilee Quilt Project! Like the boy's quilt.
Your Farmer's Wife blocks are so cute. And I like your colors. The baby quilt looks great - I can tell what that color is too - LOL.
Great fabric for your Hexagon quilt along - I love that grey! Sujata's tute was superb, but I'm not joining in this time. But I'll sure enjoy watching what everyone is doing!
I love the baby quilt, it looks antique, you have a talent for that.
There are so many tempting quilt alongs at the moment, it's hard not to be tempted, the FW blocks look great and the string blocks look fun as well.
Love your Farmer's Wife blocks! That grey fabric is really pretty too! You've got me wanting to jump in and join you on these fun looking quilt alongs!
Your FW blocks look great and the boy baby quilt is precious. I took a look at the hexagon project...very cool.
Your Farmers Wife blocks are looking good. Some mommy is going to love that little boy quilt. It's lovely in its simplicity. That's the kind of baby quilt I like. No novelty prints for me.
wwwwooowww it's so nice!!
congratulations!!
Oh Kathie,
I have been watching people make farmer's wife quilt and really admiring them! Love your blocks so far. Looking forward to your hexagon blocks soon!
Love the baby quilt!! That is some beautiful fabric!
perfect simple design for a baby quilt
Tim
I've been really tempted by both quiltalongs but have resisted so far. Your Farmer's Wife blocks look good and I really like the baby quilt. I know just which print that is and it's one of my favorites. I'd like to make that hexagon quilt sometime in the future.
I'm hoping 2012 will be my year of finishing UFOs and creating fewer new UFOs. LOL. I'm still involved in my stash reorganization and can't sew until that's finished since I buried my sewing machine. At least the end's in sight and then I can get back to sewing.
Such yummy fabrics! No harm in starting projects - you seem pretty good at completing them. I hope you join the jubilee projects. So many temptations!
I bet you will have no problem keeping up with all your new quilt commitments!
