What is it about green and pink together that I just love ? Ever since I saw this quilt from Taryn's antique quilt collection I knew I wanted to make it. I emailed Taryn and asked her if she would mind if I made a quilt inspired by her antique quilt. I was thrilled she said YES!
here is the start of mine! I really should be working on a few other projects I have started but well....Pink and Green and Nine patches I just had to start it! I know this quilt will never become a ufo, it feels good to be so inspired again by an antique quilt.

I am waiting on some black fabrics I ordered to use for the blades of the quilt Victorian Hexagon quilt along with Sujata and Barbara Brackman, I decided I wanted to go bold and use the black vs the grey I showed in a previous post.

Have you been following Donna's blog Quilting on the Mon...what a collection of antique quilts she has. The past few are amazing, I am still dreaming of the turkey red quilt a few posts back, the stars and then the blue and white quilt....

Did you see Liz's finished red and white quilt???? I really think simple blocks can shine in a quilt, just look at this one of hers, so graphic. I can't wait to see how she quilts it.

I fell in love with the quilt when I saw it on Taryn's blog. I can completely understand why you dropped other projects and started this one.
Donna's blog is amazing, love the quilts. I am very excited to say that she has agreed to come to our quilt study group's summer picnic. So, looking forward to that!

You know I love the 9 patch too, and LOVE this pink & green setting! You have me wanting to stop what I'm doing and start another 9 patch! Now, I'm going to Taryn's blog to see the antique, I hesitate, because I know if you loved it, I will too.... and then my present focus will be lost to the 9 patch! :) Thanks for all the interesting links.

You've got a humdinger there, Kathie! Such a delightful collection of random fabrics in the 9-patch blocks juxtaposed with the backdrop of fresh green and pink. Wonderful.
And yes, Liz's red and white quilt is stunning!

i was taking a closer look at what you were using as your light fabrics within the nine patches and if i'm not mistaken you have even pieced some of those blocks . . . ?
i love the way this technique takes a cue from many true antiques and uses all the tiny bits up.

:-)

You always pass on great inspiration, whether something you're working on or a suggestion to check out what somebody else has to share.
I remember a favorite dress from my childhood that was pink and green, so that combo has a special place in my heart too.
