I always have to have a piecing project going especially when I am doing a lot of applique like I am right now, this is the one I am working on now
Its a reproduction of an antique quilt in the book For Purpose or Pleasure by Sandi Fox. A must have if you love antique quilts, actually any book by Sandi Fox in mho.
I opened the book to this page when a friend, mary jo known as MJ from MI in blogland no blog just comments!, told me she wanted to make this quilt. Of course I already had a sticky on that page as a someday project.
Someday happened last week, I instantly started pulling fabrics and made a pile! I decided to make my blocks smaller then the original antique quilt. My blocks will be 6" finished vs. 9" like the original. It didn't hurt that the block was a nine patch and I just bought new turkey reds I was dying to use! It was the right time for me to make this quilt too! Besides whats better then turkey red, poison green and cheddars?????
Here is the book cover...
Did you see Sarah is having a 100 post giveaway????? Oh how I would love to have those liberty fabrics!
check out her blog!

Just like that! Great stuff!
I agree. A great combination!
Yes wonderful combination. XXX
Wonderful...I am inspired by you! Have a great sew quilting weekend!
I would not have thought to add the green to the cheddar and red, but I like it! I've been collecting cheddar fabric but have yet to come up with the perfect project for it!
Love that color combination! I just printed a nine-patch pattern for a mini quilt...I may have to use these same colors! Thanks for the inspiration!
OH, I'm drooling...all that cheddar, turkey red and the green lol! I've had my eye on that book for several years..is it as good as it looks?
what is the name of the large floral fabric you used with the red background...I am in desperate need for a 20 inch square for my pots on my Mary Mannakee quilt.
I completely agree about the Sandi Fox books. I tried ordering that particular title from Amazon two years ago and it is still pending. But, I just found it on my favorite used book website and it is now on its way to me. I can't wait.
You have me drooling over those wonderful red, green, cheddar fabrics. I am glad you are making a quilt from them because they are so wonderful. I am looking at that set of blocks the way you have it photographed on point and it's giving me ideas.
Love the combination of fabrics! The quilt turned out lovely!!
Just lovely! So graphic. Well done & thanks for the inspiration! B
love the color combo!
Those fabrics are marvelous togther! I like those blocks set on point - amazing how that changes them. It looks like a great book too :0)
Can't go wrong with a nine-patch--throw in those three colors and you have hit the jackpot!
I love that book but haven't looked at it in months. You've prompted me to pull it from my book stash to browse through it again. Love your color choices. Like you, I prefer a 6" block - I like smaller rather than larger whenever possible.
I just love those colors!
Over the years that I've been lurking, I've developed a strong love of these colors. They all just came together for me just recently. So Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! I just made my most favorite quilt, it's little, but the colors are perfect.
I agree all of Sandi Fox's books are wonderful and full of inspiration. I'm glad I could inspire you to make that quilt and can't wait to get started on my own version. I'm being strong and making myself finish what I'm working on before I start it.
Back to amazon to buy another book! That is why I love your blog it exposes me to books that I didn't even know were out there.
Thank you
I like to have blocks ready to piece on the machine while I'm appliquing too. Sometimes you just need the exhileration of whizzing through something.:) beautiful little quilt!
Love the fabrics you chose for this simple and beautiful quilt.
I love the x patterns, was thinking of doing some in my next quilt. Love your choice of fabrics.

Those colours certainly do make a great combination for an antique inspired quilt!! Nice idea to make one a little smaller, so you get the 'fix' without it being too big - I can see why you would love this, it is a very 'you' quilt - just gorgeous!!!!
You have my three favourite colours all in one quilt so of course I love it. I love that book too but I need to see what others she has written.
Love your newest little quilt. You always make the cutest ones I swear. Love that green.
I love the little quilt, those fabrics look fantastic together!
Thanks for the plug Kathie! Loving your work, as usual!

Hi Kathie, I've just been catching up on your blog posts. You've been up to lots of lovely projects as always!!
This little quilt has me missing my repro's!! It seems like ages since I pieced anything with them, or appliqued a basket! I've been making grapes (about 400 or them!). I love the green, cheddar and red together!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
