HO HO HO!!!  I started playing Christmas music on Wed, doesn't that always make you happy?
and decided it was time to make a quilt I saw on Barb's blog a few years ago.  It was made for her by Diane and friends .  I emailed both Barb and Diane to make sure they didn't mind.
Here are my versions...of course I had to do a red and white one!

These fabrics are from an old Laurene Sinema line, it was before I knew to collect these fabrics and hoard them!  they are just so beautiful  I am so lucky to have a friend send me all of hers as she didn't think she would ever use them and knew I would.  Ok so how lucky am I????  the picture isn't the best of the fabrics trust me they are incredible ( I need a new digital camera)

This was the first one I made wasn't too happy with the contrast or lack of between the red and green but now I really love it, subtle is good sometimes

Here are the 3 together I tried to make 4 in 2 days it just didn't happen!  So do you have a favorite?
I am still trying to decide which one I like best.

My new favorite mug!  I just happen to love snowmen and red well...you know I love red!

I am not done with HO HO HO quilts, today I am off to a quilt shop and hope they carry Christmas fabric .....39 days to Christmas  could that be right?
Thanks Diane for sharing the pattern with me and Barb for the inspiration
of course now I have to find some fun backing fabric for it!
Take the time to look thru Diane's blog Persnickety quilts....oh my so much inspiration there.

close up of the laurene sinema fabrics  recognize them???  still not the best picture so sorry

They are all cute, but I like the green and red best.

Very cute! At first I thought you made an H quilt because of your last name! I think I like the red and white best, but the red and greens come in a close second. How fun to shop for Christmas fabric now. I started listening to Christmas music this week, too!

Indeed these Ho Ho's are very funny!

these are so fun. I like the red and white too!

I am lucky to have about a yard of Laureen Simena's fabric...the green version of your red. I agree that they are a treasure.
My favorite is the red and white version!

I also love snowmen! I started collecting them a few years back and have a nice collection now.

I like the red and white the best but they are all great.

I love these! We are a huge family, so we adults just bring one gift & do one of those swap games. I have this year's quilted throw almost done, but i think I'll use yours as an inspiration for next year. I can see making up 9 sections of hoboho's with different fabric combinations in each section & join them into a throw size quilt. Maybe use red/green and red white in the nine sections to make it like a huge nine patch with little Hohoho sub units! Thanks!

Oh my goodness, Kathie, they are adorable. A favorite? HMMMM!

So cute, Kathie! I love them all--I don't recognize the fabric line. Don't know that it ever made it to my little obscure corner of the world.
Okay, in looking at them again I guess I would say I prefer the red/white, just because the word jumps out more to me in that color combo.

Really cute! The red and white is my favorite.

I love 'em all! But my favorite is the red and white.

My friend Jane always starts the Christmas music on November 1 so you are in good company. This is very cute!

39 days? My neighbors all have their lights up and I even saw a tree in a window the day after Hallow'een. Good Grief, I still have my Hallow'een banner on my door! I like them all, super cute

The red and white one shows the most contrast--but the green and red blocks make a great mix to add to them. I think they are all great in their own way!! Fun stuff--love Christmas prints, and this is a great way to use some red & greens. 39 days seems so close--yikes!! I have today off from momsitting (my brother is sick) and I plan on getting some cutting done. Have a great weekend Judy

How fun! Love your Ho Ho Ho quilt :D

You can really see the HO HO in the red and white one. That's my personal favorite. I had not thought of Christmas music yet. But I do like when my XM radio starts their all-Christmas stations this time of year. So much more soothing that listening to MORE political wrangling on the news.

What size are the little "H" and "O"s? They are SO darned cute!

Love 'em all! I enjoyed working with these blocks last year too...so fun!

I love them all! Did you make up the pattern or is it on one of the other blogs? It is so cute I would love to make one on one of the 39 days left :0

The red and white one is the most obvious "HO" visual and my favorite but I like the green and red versions as well.

I remember seeing Barb's quilt, such a fun pattern!! I really like seeing the way you've done them as blocks. The red and white are most striking but I like the green and red too.

These Christmas quilts really look wonderful! Congrats on getting so many of them finished! Your snowman mug is just darling!

The red and white really said HO HO HO to me. What a fun project!

I love these very jolly quilts :0) My favorite is the red and white one.

I made one last year (also 'borrowed' from Barb's blog) in red/green...I'm LOVING your red and white one...I might have to go DIGGING tonight!

Vivian said...

As others have mentioned, the red/white one is the most obvious Ho-Ho-Ho of the trio, but my personal favorite is the one with least contrast. Love those fabrics.
I remembered Barb's Ho-Ho-Ho quilt from several years back, but your versions are a unique variation.

I pulled out my stack of Christmas CDs the other day to get in the mood. Sounds so old-fashioned--but at least I didn't write that I was pulling out my cassette tape collection. I'm just a practical gal. If I have them, I use them.

Funny about that Kathy, but I have just been playing around with a H block idea as well. Must be contagious! Wendy

How can we possibly decide...they are all fantastic. I guess the red and white one spoke to me first. Nice work...I'm glad to see you aren't letting the electricity be wasted in your house!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

I like the red and white best because it shows off the pattern the best. I have some H blocks that I now see I could pair with a block with a square in the middle to make a great design. Thanks for the inspiration. Kathie L in Allentown

I've always loved the Diane/Barb quilt too. love it. the red and white definitely works the best, but I really think it's fun to see them all together. could make a quilt almost like a 32-patch, only different.

Vicky said...

I agree with everyone. The red and white really pops. You've been busy!!!

Heartsdesire said...

I like the red and white one best, but the red fabric in the other quilts is gorgeous. I've not heard of Laurene Sinema, but will be on the lookout for any old fabric by her. Would love to make this quilt, is there a pattern?
