still no power, no signs of power trucks, big trees down still with wires in the roads making getting around town very hard....gas lines are still long
school closed still, wondering where all that help Obama sent is??? did he send enough help obviously not.
come on Gov Christie send out an SOS and get us more help....
we are still very thankful that we still have a house to live in and cars to drive so many people had so much property damage our thoughts and prayers are with them. Their lives have been turned upside down. ours have been just inconvenienced compared to so many others I guess you can say....but still affected.
I can't wait to start making quilts to donate to the relief effort especially with winter coming here they will be very much appreciated I am sure.
Equilter check out what you can do to help if you would like to make a quilt to donate.
so many asked what they can do to help that is one way
another is to donate to the American Red Cross (make sure it is going to the Sandy relief fund) or to the
Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund
thanks....
will let you know when our power is back and my sewing machine is humming along ....
again Thanks for so many emails I truly appreciate it , my computer time is limited

Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated. Wishing things weren't so difficult. D you have a fireplace for warmth?
Sorry you are still without power. In Isabelle we were out for 16 days. They had to rebuild the grids! Was warmer weather though. Hope things improve soon!
oh kathie so sorry to hear.
we just got power last night.
Hang in there and stay safe.
Thanks for the update. I'm glad you are ok and managed to get online. Hope the power is coming on for you soon - Big hugs Nat
We miss seeing your quilts, but glad to hear you are doing OK under the circumstances. Keep thinking positive thoughts!
I thought that the best possible was being done before, but it appears that the people in charge didn't plan early enough and catching up never works. I saw reports yesterday of water that didn't get ordered until after the storm and the fact that they didn't have a plan. A lot of what is being done is from the bottom up. Both New York and New Jersey requested help before the storm and I can't fathom why with 3 days to stage stuff and get it ready it was 3 days after the storm before real action was taken. When the weather channel is begging for action it is scary. I will pray. I hope since the government failed miserably that the Red Cross and other volunteer organizations can help.
Thanks for the update, sorry you still don't have your power on yet. Please remember lots of people are praying for all of you up there. So glad you have your house.
Thanks for the info about the quilt drive from Equilter, I was wondering how to donate quilts. Good luck in the upcoming days - hope power is restored soon.
I know this "camping" has gotten old. I bet you are cutting pieces after pieces of the quilts you are going to sew when the electricy is up and running....
Went to vote this morning and "they" were not prepared either... shameful. Not enough tables ..... parking all over the place...and since it is at a school the buses will not be able to pull in... signs about the ballot on the opposite wall of where the line was or behind the EXIT door... no one looked at the whole picture as I am sure "it was not their job"... are we as a society really this stupid??? It would seem so.
oh, Kathie, my prayers are with you. It's hard knowing you are stranded, and being so far away, can't step in and help. Keep us posted on your progress.
OK, I have a plan - I'm going to plug in an extension cord and run to the next blogger friend so she can connect her cord to mine and so on. You'll have power in no time. :-) Thought you could use a little snicker and giggle.
I'm so sorry you still have no power - sigh!
So sorry about the delays in relief. I know repair crews from N. Texas left for that part of the country as soon as they heard the storm was going to hit. Unfortunately they are not in your neighborhood. Hopefully they will be soon.
Wow! So sorry that you are still without power. I hope you get relief soon. I like Darlene's idea. We can all send electricity with our extension cords ;-) Hang i there girl. Thanks for the links.
Hope your life gets back to normal soon, and you can begin making your lovely quilts again. Take care, Dixie
Thankfully you made it through Sandy safely and hopefully you will get power soon Enough is enough already.
Thank you for the update - hopefully the power will get to you soon. Hang in there *hugs*
It´s nice youre giving us an update and I´m glad youre alright. Hoping things will go back to normal soon for those afflected by Sandy.
I feel for you and others who are still without. We are getting another one and lent our generator, so hoping the guy remembers to bring it in, so Bill can get it tonight.
Debbie
Sorry you're still without juice. Is there anything we can do to help? xo
So sorry you are still without power. It can not be easy.. Hoping you get it soon!
Kathie, here in VA as with many other states - there is such an outpouring of concern and many relief collections going on.
I hope the power comes back soon and those roads become clear enough for those relief trucks to arrive!
My thoughts and prayers are with you - your family and communities effected by hurricane Sandy!
Hope you can keep your spirits up. I've never been without power for more than a couple of days, and it was absolutely no fun. Hope that it won't be much longer, and that the new storm won't affect you.
Hope things are getting better....have been asking people for help on my blog, I hope the noreastern that is coming won't affect you, Praying for you all, Hugs, Mary
Still sending hugs and positive thoughts...take care and be safe...
Keep positive thoughts! Hugs!
just put a blog post on my blog with the link to the red cross to donate, sending you positive vibes and hugs
It's good to hear that you're safe but still it must be very hard without power. Hang in there and I hope you get back to normal real soon.
Our longest without power was 9 days. It sucks. At another point we were out for 6 days, and another point for 5 days. Another time we were out for 3 days, it came back on for 2 and then went down again for 3½ days --- coming back on about 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Nothing fun about being without power. Nothing fun at all.
Oh Kathie, I keep hoping your power will be back on asap!! Surely it can't be too much longer. Think of you.
Hope you and everyone suffering will have power soon. We don't hear about this from media. Is it trUe only union workers restoring power and non union turned away from other states willing to send help? Hope all will be restored, or assistance for those in dire circumstances with the weather changing.
Hang in there, sweetie! I hope the juice is turned on SOON! My in-laws near Philadelphia JUST GOT THERE POWER BACK on Monday, and they were in a low- or no-real-damage-area. Hopefully yours will be next!!
Are you dreaming about quilts?! I always do my best quilt planning when there is no way in hell that I can sew.
I'm sending you lots of good thoughts and channeling my inner psychic to get SOS's to Christie and OBAMA/FEMA.
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
You have no idea how many times i have thought about you and your family and in my prayers. Checked out Equilter site and will see if I have any suitable finished quilts to donate. I know I have several infant quilts. Donated to ARC Relief fund, every little bit counts although it will take billions. Keeping you in my daily prayers. Warm hugs
Hold on! This too shall pass. We were w/o power for a week in the Atlanta ice storm and it stayed below freezing the whole time. I just kept the two fireplaces utterly stoked and we slept on cots right next to one. Timmy was about 10. Trees down in the backyard, a tree down all over the front door so we could barely get out, more trees down. Taking the backpack to the grocery for whatever food was there. Get it and like it. Sheesh, what an ordeal.
Hi Kathie, My thoughts and prayers have been with you, and am relieved your home/cars are ok. So, sorry the power is still not on. I've lived through two horrible disasters; a flood that wreaked 14 homes and killed over 700 milk cows on our farm, and an ice storm in Seattle that resulted in power off a about 8 days. Every time I hear about such a disaster, I just get nauseated and stay that way!
On a very happy note, I saw your cover quilt on the magazine stand today!! So happy for you.
I got an email from AQS, who recommended Project Linus for relief quilts. I will attach their info:
Please follow the following guidelines when sending your quilts:
Quilts should be twin to queen sizes.
Please include your contact information (name, address, phone and/or email.) Project Linus will try to let you know where your quilt is heading.

I'm getting my frame set up tonight to start quilting some tops.
Again, I'm sending you a giant blog type hug. And, I am emailing Gov. Christie to tell him to get a move on!!!
idk where in nj you are located, but i have lots of family and friends in bergen county. the power company said that they were ordering the repairs by the number of call received regarding the outage. so, what i'm trying to say is, call the power company even if you know the outage was already reported. and call back everyday and report it as an emergency. have all your neighbors do the same. i think it helps. and i'll keep you in my good thoughts and prayers.
I'm in the same situation in Long Island NY, so happy to realize people/ quilters care about us.thx for info.lizzy gone top the beach
Hello Kathie,
I'm sorry that you're still without power! That's a long time...I hope that you'll be back to sewing soon.
Glad you guys are ok, we are safe too!!
Kathie,
I am happy to know that you are well, I have thought good to you, I send you all my friendship of France.
Oh Kathie, it is awful to be without power. Got mine back on Monday only to lose it again in the Nor'easter. I hate to see all the tree and shrub damage around here, but I am most grateful my house was spared. Cleanup will take a very long time. I am getting tired already! Now I am clearing out my closets for winter clothes to donate...and I have a couple of quilts ready to go. With so many weather problems, we should probably keep a few on hand at all times,
