 Whats on my design wall???
Figured I would share a few pictures rather then just ranting it didn't get me anywhere!
25 patches can't wait to make more , this is what I was working on before Sandy came to visit

4 patches  I made at the same time and they are  all made from 1.5" cut squares.

update
still no power to our home but at least I can report there is hope....there are power trucks in our town FINALLY.
hopefully by Sunday my sewing machine will be humming away if not sooner and I will be adding a lot more of these blocks to a quilt I have in mind.

Be thankful for your power and your nice warm home., its amazing what we all take for granted or don't even think about until something like this happens.
Looking forward to catching up with what you all have been doing soon.  Thanks for all the comments and emails I really appreciate each and every one of them.

STILL! Yikes. Yes, we do take so many things for granted. Hope you are staying warm and safe.

Love your 4-Ps! You do the best scrappy in the world. Glad to hear the trucks have arrived. Hope you're turned on very quickly. Too bad you didn't have a treadle machine!

I wish I could sing and dance as well as comment to give you some company. Funny how some 1.5 squares sure look happy and fun....

I'm so sorry to hear that you are still without power. I can't imagine how you are getting along in the cold weather and hope you won't have to do it much longer. From all the praise for handling the storm victims that FEMA has gotten on tv I expected much better.
Love the blocks on your design wall and hope your machine will soon be humming along making more.

Loving all those little squares Kathie!! I have been thinking about you. When I was at Market, I went to the APQ booth and saw your quilt!!! Gorgeous!! I took lots of pics for you but had a phone accident...long story and lost all my photos from market and festival. :-( I hope your power comes back real soon. I completely understand how you feel. Hugs and prayers for you. :-)

A long time to be without power. Are you having to bundle up and stay in bed to keep warm?

I can't imagine going without power for that long, we do tend to rely too much on it;) I hope that you get it restored this weekend and can get back to normal.

What a challenge to be this long without power! I hope the wait is over very soon.
I love the 25-patch and 4-patch blocks. Maybe if I made some of those my scrap basket would not overfloweth. But then again--maybe it wouldn't make a dent. : )

Take heart, Kathie.....soon it be over and life will return to normal!! I well remember we here in Maine had a 2 week power outage due to the 1998 ice storm....but none of the widespread devastation such as NJ/NY have experienced!

Love your little pieces which I'm sure will be a big quilt top before too long. Nice to know you may be restored soon!!!

I have kept you in my daily prayers, Kathie, and wondered if your power was on yet. Can't imagine how difficult its been the last few weeks. So glad to hear the power trucks are nearby.

Yes, i too have been keeping you in my prayers. I was pretty worried about how long it would be for you. The last week-end in June 2012 a big storm roared throught the mountains of Virginia & West Virginia... Over 1.8 million were without power, it took two weeks for some to get their power back.... High heat (we were having record breaking heat then > 100 in the mountains, no water as the pump runs on electricity.). But, I think heat is easier to bear than your cold. I have worried @ you; can you get to the store? If so, is it open? Can you refuel your car? Is your water safe? Do you have an effective fire place? Can you flush? Such basics are very trying to be without. Have you been trying to flip on lights...forgetting they aren't working?

With over 8.5 million without power and the unfathomable devastation you all experienced, i am amazed how much has been restored, but my recent experience reminds me of how long a day can be while living with great inconvenience and uncertainty.
I take great hope that you are able to post photos of your quilts in progress while still in the thick of the aftermath of Sandy. Take courage, know many are remembering you in your plight.

I'm so hoping that TODAY they get to your street! Don't they realize that you have creative juices flowing? It's just so wrong to mess with that!

Since we live in the country, we have a generator. I forget that is not a usual thing in the suburbs. You really are at their mercy when getting power back on. Hang in there. It's got to be soon! :o)

You are still in my prayers... I was wondering about you as reading Margaret's post yesterday. Stay warm and sage!!

So sorry about the power thing. And you are so right about how we take so many things for granted. At least you have your home, and not to much damage to it, I hope. Nothing wrong with a good rant, especially under the circumstances. On a lighter note, I love your 25-patch blocks on your design wall. They are fabulous, and I can hardly wait to see how they will end up. I'm going to go through my Civil War repro scrap basket today and make a few. I'm assuming that they are 1-1/2 inch squares, same as the four patches.

your work in progress is adorable! come out to my house we can play together and even though there is snow on the ground..I have heat! Go straight across the US and stop in Bend, Oregon...call and I'll pick you up!

I'm glad to hearing y'all are hanging in there. I hope you have your electricity back soon.

Glad to see some sunlight, aka power trucks, come to N.J. Hope get get electricity soon and back to somewhat normal.

Hang in there, Kathie. You'll be back sewing and warm before you know it.

During Katrina, we were without water for five days, and without power for eight days. When the water was turned back on, it felt like a miracle. It was miserably hot and humid in Mississippi in August, but we learned very quickly that the most important amenity is water. I'm sure you'll have your power soon, and all the anxiety will fade into memory. I'm glad you are able to work on your quilts to help the time go by until you get power.

Praying for you. I'm so sorry. :(

So hope your power is on very soon. Your Governor appears on the news to be really trying to get a handle on this. I think its a wakeup call for all of us, no matter where we are. My husband asked if I knew that we have a small generator, and I had no idea. We are getting our emergency supplies together because you never know. Hope you next post brings good news for you! Love your quilts!!

Dear Kathie, I hope the power will be back soon and the sewing macine humming away again. It's terrible what damages Sandy did in your part of the world. I have been watching the news and thought about you and all I know in the area. Big hugs, Helene

We don't realize how much we depend on electricity until it is gone. We use it for just about everything! I hope yours comes on soon. I am also wondering how you are coping with other aspects of this, such as cooking - do you have a gas stove?; water, etc. I hope you will expand on it more when you have power. Hoping yours is restored today!

Your 25 block looks a lot like my 16 block I'm doing for "In Full Bloom". They are fun - aren't they? Glad your power is back on.
