I decided I really want to cut up and use whats in my scrap basket and bags this year. I will be making 4 patches, red and green nine patches , cutting strips for a few other projects I have in my mind and my postage stamp blocks. I find it easier to just cut for a few projects at once. Of course quite a few little quilts will be made too, stay tuned!
Of course swapping fabrics with a few of my friends is always fun , great variety is always a good thing, when I pulled out the bag in this little box it grew and grew instantly! I was so surprised just made me laugh maybe this is why that scrap basket never goes down!
see that gold fabric on top oh I am thrilled to have a piece of that again!
so in the bag from my friend here are some of the pieces I ironed them and started cutting into my strips for my new projects what fun quite a few fabrics I didn't have or had and used up! did you notice them in the 4 patches above? I will make a four patch from each of her fabrics to start with.
Lots of strips waiting for the next big quilt to start, I will wait till Jan 1st. hope to make the quilt in a year! thats the goal! So have you started thinking about your quilt goals for 2013?
I have had mona keeping me company all year just look at her note to me....think its time to pack her away for awhile once the calendar comes down! This bird made from an antique quilt always makes me smile too she will stay :)
I just want to say thank you to all of you that sent me postage stamp squares, I really appreciate it! It was so kind of you , you all know who you are.
I have plenty now to make at least 5 more blocks.

You are going to have fun, fun, fun! If you are still in need of little one inch squares, please email me your address. Do you have a type of fabric you are looking for?
I burst out laughing when I read what Mona is saying!! So funny!!! Lots of lovely scraps, I know you'll be making masterpieces with them.
What beautiful fabrics. I love your idea of planning your quilt goals, I usually just have a vague idea, but now I am going to be more intentional! Thank you for the idea. xo
Looks like your 2013 will be off to a gorgeous start. I do have a goal list -- wonder how I'll do!
Lots of great fabrics! Some of them are familiar. My favorite repro quilt shop has a scrap bin and I love to fill up the plastic baggie as full as I can - I think it's $3.00 per bag. I'm planning to go there soon.
love swapping fabrics - you got some great ones.
love 4 and 9 patches.
I have started thinking about 2013 goals - lots of quilt to make!
Mona sure gives great advice! Love your scrap bag - it is so much fun to have scraps from friends- you are making me want to dig into mine!
I agree cutting out multiple projects at a time is an efficient way to go. I have been thinking about my goals as well. So much fabric to play with, have fun!
I wonder if the post service when they initiated the "whatever fits" ships at a flat rate knew about quilters??? lol Because of you I have definitely been thinking about 2013. I know my quilting will be interrupted by a move but I think I am going to prep a bunch of stuff the week after Christmas and then my focus will be organizing and boxing stuff so in March I will be all ready, ROFLOL
Your fabrics from your friend look enticing....like a halloween candy bag without the calories.
Like the Mona Lisa reminder. :)

Other people's scraps are always better then our own! lol
All those scraps make me 'swoon'. You are officially the Scrap Queen in my book. :-)
I think Mona should stay on the calendar, and move from month to month! She's so smart! :o)
Love your scraps! Yes, I have some goals for 2013 (the fabric for tops purchased & patterns selected): 2 sets of twin quilts for my son's two daughters (first of each set is started); a smallish " escaping bugs" quilt for their youngest (also started, but have'not sewn any of the paper piecing yet); a queen size for their oldest, and a tree skirt that didn't get finished for this year (our Christmas gathering is this week-end.). I made 9 lap sized rag quilts for grandchildren & great nephews & neices for this year's Christmas gifts. Thanks for your inspiration & hope you have a great holiday!
Wow. Lots of lovely scraps. How lucky you are to have a friend with the same taste in fabric. What size are you cutting for your four-patches and nine-patches? This would be a good cutting project for over the holidays when I don't get much sewing done and I would like to get my scrap basket reduced somewhat.
Looks like fun! Do you need more postage stamps? I missed your request! Let me know and I will send you a few!! :-)
Kathie,
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your patterns. I've made a couple and they are my favorites. Every time I see a new one in a magazine I just love it and low and behold...it's another Kathie Holland pattern! I just love the scrappy look and have a lot of fun making them too.
Oh, how fun to swap scraps and end up with such a variety.
Why put Mona away? Doesn't her advice apply as much next year as it did this? You should keep her handy--you can always use the excuse, "Mona made me do it!" : )
Mona's note really made me laugh. Do you think putting her away will stop it? I really like that green paisley-ish looking fabric.
Just marvelous!! You've inspired me (again) to do something with my scraps!! I'm thinking maybe a log cabin! Love those old looking ones!
Hope you have a Blessed Holiday Season filled with Love, Joy and Peace!
I love the red and green 9-patches. And the bags of scraps. . . Isn't it amazing how they manage to expand when you aren't looking?
I swear my scraps breed! The more I give away and use up, the more I seem to have. Go figure! Looks like you have good plans for using yours.
2013 will be a slow start quilting year for me - carpal tunnel surgery on Jan. 3rd. Sure hope it heals quickly so I can get back at it! Will have time to dream and make a list, tho.
