I finally had some time in the sewing room yesterday and I started by pulling pieces out of the scrap basket ironing them and thought funny how many blue fabrics, the idea came make a little blue and white quilt I wanted it to have an airy/fresh look to it rather then totally scrappy. I found a 1/2 yard of a light background fabric started cutting up 1.5" squares. When I could I did cut 3.5" x 1.5" strips of the background and blue pieces to chain piece them. Of course I cut extra 1.5" squares for my postage stamp project.
Decided on 4 patches as some of the pieces of blue would not give me enough for a nine patch block. I just kept making 4 patches and sewed them together added borders and in a few hours had a new little quilt. For you fabric lovers just look at some of the older fabrics in this little quilt!
My quilt is 2" finished 4 patches, 18.75 x 18. 75 in case you want to make one too.
Amazing what you can make from the scrap basket and fabric in your stash.
Maybe I need to make a red and white one next :)

What a great idea and a great quilt! Beautiful!
It's wonderful...what treasures our scrap baskets hold!
It looks great Kathie and would look just as good in red and white.
There is something about a two color quilt! And the blue and white is crisp! Very January.
A lovely little quilt to sneak in before the New Year. Great use of scraps.
Love it!!! Perfect for January! Blue and white are my favorite January decor!! Might have to go put one together for me!!
Blessings for a Very Happy New Year!

I'm hoping to make more doll quilts next years.

The little cute is adorable!! I don't imagine it used many scraps;)
Looks like a great quilt for a January snowman. And I agree with Lori--probably didn't make a dent in the scraps, did it? : )
I love blue and white. Will have to do one of these myself. And I agree that red and white would be great too.
Love all the nice blues!
Lovely Kathie, just lovely.
Love the little squares. It's fun to revisit old fabrics and think of the original projects they were used in. Happy New Year and I look forward to following along your blog in 2013
The blue and white is just perfect!
Very cute...but no, no, no I am not allowed to start another project! wait it isn't 2013 yet so maybe...
How lovely! I think I have to start a little quilt too.
Beautiful blues and whites!! I love the way just whip up projects in no time.
Love it - my favorite color combination, you are becoming a blue convert as I am becoming a red one!
What a sweet little quilt!
Sometimes it's fun to put together a simple little piece such as this one. No stress involved. I do spy some blues that I have in my collection.
Best wishes for you in the New Year. Soon as I shake my cold I will be stitching as well !
That would be a big YES from me on a red and white version!
Those are some great blues. I need some like those for my little house skies. It's funny what inspires us.
Love it and a red and white one would be gorgeous as well. You always inspire Ms. Kathie
Happy New Year
Darling mini! 2" finished four patches is pretty darn tiny and cute. Glad you had fun with blue and white scraps :)
Years and years ago, I made a quilt with a now well-known designer's first fabric line and quickly, all the blues faded out to gray. And not a mellow gray, either! It was quite a disappointment, and I read in QN, I think, that the fabric company fielded many, many complaints and was addressing the problem in subsequent lines. However, since then, I've veered away from blues, again and again. Your charming little piece may nudge me back.
Have you ever experienced a fading problem with blues, Kathie?
I've been thinking a lot about 2013 this week and I can see little quilts in my future. ;-). Happy new year!
What a fantastic little quilt. You made a great little something out of nothing much. Sometimes we underestimate the potential of fabric scraps. We forget that it doesn't take a lot of scraps or a lot of effort for scraps to become a darling little quilt with its' ownpersonality. We surprise ourselves with what we have created. Everybody loves an underdog & scraps are the underdog in the world of fabric. Thanks for showing us how to quickly turn our underdog scraps into Hero Quilts. Never underestimate a bucket of scraps left in the hands of a quilter! Now get going on the red scraps.
So cute--blue and white is my favorite color combination!
Simple but beautiful - the best are made from scraps!
Happy New Year!
Heel veel GELUK in 2013!!
:o)
