Last year Lucy posted about this book and some of the ornaments she made from this book, I was in awe! I was in a yarn store this week and in a weak moment bought the book and yarn to make some of them. Ok my dream is to have a tree filled with knitted ornaments next year. Maybe I am just taking this red and white theme a little too far....
Ok just how fun are these????
Just look at that tree, LOVE the red and white ornaments...... did I tell you I am not really an advanced knitter not even sure I can make one? The nice ladies in the yarn store said come back in January and they will teach me! They were so impressed I was willing to buy the book, yarn and needles (oh and the book isn't really written with clear instructions for American products! sizes!) without much experience...guess they haven't met enough quilters! Hmmm wonder if quilters stockpile more then knitters, even quilt kits/patterns/ book that are too advanced for us but we love the pattern...
So if your not all ready for the holidays yet....this pillow says it all!!!!
Merry Christmas to all and enjoy every minute of this holiday season...

the red and white ornaments are really cute! I have no doubt that you'll be able to make them.
The pillow says it all!
I love that pillow!!!
perfect for so many occasions!
I love those ornaments, too! I showed them to my mom last year and while she didn't make these fancy ones she did make some one color christmas balls. She fussed at me for showing her youtube videos the week before christmas on how to do it. Knitters get hooked, too. ; c )
Love the pillow!
Those remind me of the ones I saw at Gander Mountain this past week. I nearly bought a few but the price was steep. It will be nice for you to make your own...and show us! Enjoy your holidays.
I don't blame you a bit for buying all the supplies for the ornaments - they are wonderful. Makes me wish I could knit! I wonder if I could persuade my mom to make a few!?
Makes me wish I could knit - but I have decided that is one hobby I am not going to take up.
The pillow is perfect for so many occasions! lol

I had forgotten about this book. I think a tree of these ornaments would be an A+ idea. And make a few for each of your friends too!
LOVE that pillow! Of course the flip side would have to be the Keep Calm and Carry On, or here in the Pacific Northwest it would be Keep Clam and Carry On :D
Merry Christmas to you too Kathie. Nd would you mind sending that pillow this way.
That book is on my Amazon wish list, and I almost clicked the add to cart button on it yesterday. I am a crocheter/knitter besides a quilter so I hoard it all! The yarn seems to squish into a smaller space than the fabric though. You can never have too much red and white. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
The Christmas balls are wonderful. Lots of work, but fun too.
That pillow is hillarious.
Those Christmas balls are so cute...but I am hopeless at knitting...
You can definitely make those Christmas balls!! I think quilters tend to have a can-do spirit and if we can't figure out the pattern we just make one up!!
blessings,
pam
Today's post made me smile from beginning to end!!!
Oh, Kathie, that would be the most wonderful tree--and I think it is very "you"! I don't knit, so wouldn't attempt it. I made a pair of potholders about 45 years ago and never stuck with it. Wish I had. These are sooo tempting!
You will love to knit the ornaments.
ps, my mail to you is still coming back :-(
One of my quilting friends is a knitter and I have to say, her stash of yarn is filling more space than my fabric! I think she gets her patterns on-line. There are some pretty well-written instructions to be found there.
Well atleast those ornaments are SMALL!
Ny knitting stash is smaller, but that's only because I started knitting later. I have the same crazy habits for acquiring both knitting and quilting materials. You might be interested in knowing that knitting is international now, every yarn store can translate needle sizes from one convention to another and yarn is ordered from Scandanavia, Britain and elsewhere on the Internet, as well as from thousands of US stores. You can get anything you want. You can do this! Don't worry.
Happy Christmas Kathie. I don't understand a word of Japanese but it hasn't stopped me from acquiring a huge stash of books. I am sure you will soon have a tree full of lovely decorations. Keep up the good work. I know you can do it.
The ornaments are really cool!! I think about trying to knit sometimes but quickly banish the thought because I know I'd go crazy for all those beautiful yarns and I've barely the room for my fabrics. I'm so impressed that you're going to knit some of those balls, they look really tricky. That cushion made me laugh so much!!
