We went to Boston for a few days and isn't it amazing how you find quilt designs no matter where you go and when your not even looking for them?
These are from the Boston Public Library, we took a tour of the Art and Architecture from the Library, it was free and amazing.  I highly recommend it  if your ever in Boston take this tour.
 Can't you see appliqué blocks?
 hand quilting designs?
applique flower?  Tonya used to post incredible pictures of buildings in Paris and I have always wanted to use these designs from buildings to hand quilt, think I need to make that a goal this year.

I didn't get to finish the little quilt before I left but I did make some more progress...
hopefully today I can finish it and mail it to the recipient

I'd like to visit Boston some day. In Westminster Abbey on the tomb of Edward the Confessor are the remnants of decorative motifs - patchwork stars! The tomb was commissioned by Henri III in the late 1200s. I'm guessing the motifs are even older still.

Your little quilt looks great! Keep up the good work! It's funny you showed the fence. I have pages and pages of fence saved for quilting inspiration!

Hey Kathie, I love those archetectural features. I take picks like that when I travel too. The wreath around the book looks to be straight out of a Baltimore album quilt! Or perhaps it was the other way around?! Your scrappy quilt is very pretty. I love the two color border. Happy New Year! Claire W.

Amazing where quilt inspiration comes from and thank goodness you had a camera with you to record it.

Someone is going to be very lucky to receive such a lovely quilt.

Funny you should be looking at buildings. When I volunteer in Baltimore we usually take a walk to lunch and admire the "quilting" designs in the architecture along the way.

How great that you got to have a break away, it sounds wonderful. We all look through quilters eyes and its amazing where inspiration lurks, especially when looking up at buildings.
