Last year on Cheri Paynes blog quilts by Cheri, she made a little quilt each month and shared the pattern with us, I made a few of them and a few I still wanted to make.  This one was inspired by one of hers, I just loved the big chunky borders and the tiny blocks.  My blocks are larger then hers, mine are 2" finished 4patches and I added another row of blocks.  You can still find all the patterns on her blog. (and yes all the 4 patches were made from the scrap basket, black was from the fabric closet!)

I whipped this one up yesterday also inspired by a quilt on her blog!  yes mine is a tad different, what can I say i wanted the cheddar bold center.  Yes I changed the black out this one just worked better with this cheddar fabric.  My plans for this little quilt is to use it at Halloween on a table. (black and cheddar from the closet but the shirting was pieces in the scrap basket)
Yesterday i was lucky to spend most of the day in the sewing room, sewed together my red and white version of my blue and white quilt...just love them both.    One will probably wind up as a gift.

Walking into the sewing room today made me smile just seeing whats on my design wall....
yes productive past few days....5 more rows on my crumbler quilt!  can't wait to finish that one and start quilting it...

Last but not least I just had to cut down the red strip to 1/2" I like it so much better now.
I decided  I would just look at it for a day or so and see if it worked nope still bothered me I had to make it smaller.    Here it is with the larger red border if you missed the last post.
the next few days are busy again I hope to at least get this little quilt basted and hand quilting started and maybe a row here and there of the crumbler quilt sewn together.
Hope you have a productive day in the sewing room too, felt good after the busyness of the holidays to just be able to sew and play with fabric and use a little more out of those scrap baskets!

That black background really makes those little 4 patches sparkle. I am making one of Cheri's little quilts at the moment too. You have set yourself a high standard for the rest of the year, having accomplished so much in such a short time.

I love the quilt with the big black chunky borders. A few weeks ago I considered making that particular quilt and then set aside my plans to finish Christmas gifts. May have to revisit that idea.

Lovin' everything!

I also love the black background. The black and cheddar is especially stunning! I just might have to make one of those, or maybe a few put together into a table runner. That would be great for Halloween!

i think the narrower red border was a good choice. After very busy days, I have enjoyed just sitting under my hoop and quilting too.

It's amazing how reducing the width of those red strips improves the final design on the broken dishes piece. Love it!!
You're just cranking them out this week while I move little berries around. lol

Great stuff, Kathie. I particularly like the wee four patches with the big black border.

Love all the little quilts. I loved the pinwheels with the wider border, but I think the adjusted size of the red border was a good choice.
Happy New Year!

I just love your minis! I'm working on another too!

Wonderful quilts and love mini quilts. I was thinking I might start with my smaller quilts, since they are faster to finish and easier to practice my free motion on.

Love the little 4-patch! The colors just radiate out of the blackness.
Great little two color quilts. I need to make one of those.
Yes, the other little quilt looks much better with the red strip cut narrower. The black did tame it a little (sorry I didn't respond sooner--got so busy sewing), but I think this will look best.
I want to make the little hourglass quilt Cheri posted for New Years. She shares such great little quilts.

I'd be giddy if I walked in my sewing room and saw all of those on my design wall! They're so sweet! I'm headed over to Cheri's blog now! Thanks for the link!

Your busy day today shouldn't bother you much since you were so productive the last few days. I think it was a good decision to cut down the red border. At first, I like it wide but definitely prefer smaller after seeing it. Good call! I like that four patch on the black. I've been using cheddar a lot lately but I think I might have to use some of my small scraps with black now. That is, if I ever get back to my machine!

What wonderful little quilts! I love the cheddar and black together. I agree, it is good to get back to sewing again after being so busy!

You've really gotten a lot done lately! I like the thinner red strip better, too. Good call!

Love your little 4 patches on the black--sharp! You were right about the narrower red inner border--now it's perfect. I feel like such a slacker after seeing your design wall!
