I was so happy when this book, Lizzie's Legacy by Betsy Chutchian, arrived in my mailbox yesterday.  I love Betsy's quilts.  Reading Lizzie's diary entries along with viewing all the quilts Betsy chose to make to go with the writings is just wonderful.  All 3 quilts on the cover are patterns in the book.  The book has lots of quilt patterns in it  and the added journal entries of the times the quilts would have been made makes the book well worth buying in mho.
Of course there are quite a few quilts in here I would love to make but I decided to just chose one to highlight in my review
I think this one may have to be  my favorite , I love madders and this quilt is a reproduction of an antique quilt that her friend owns, that is shown on page 30 of the book too, Isn't  her version just wonderful?
Betsy has written and co authored a few books and have to admit I love them all!  Her color sense, her use/choice of fabrics and her love of antique quilts too is what draws me to her ( inspired by antique quilts) quilts!

I LOVE you choice of book review quilt...in fact I like the entire concept...buy a book and immediately pick out a quilt to commemorate the purchase, lol

Oh dear--I'm trying to avoid more books being added to my library. But the historical ones, the ones with stories and more than just patterns -- those are hard to ignore. I have her "History Repeated" but may have to add one more. Thanks for the temptation, Kathie :)

This one is on my list. I've really enjoyed her other books--they've been the seeds of two really successful block exchanges among my friends and me.

I love the block in that featured quilt...really unusual. And it is no surprise that you were attracted to that color, LOL! The setting is really stunning and it will really show off your stash when you make it...snicker-snicker...

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Love the red quilt too - can't wait to see if you use the stripe and which one you use!! I just got some that is a possibility, but I'm not sure yet. Madder red and brown together with shirtings is just a delicious combination!
